Yesterday, March 7th, Hanno Lemke, general manager of Microsoft Studios Europe announced on the website of Xbox news the end of game development Fable Legends, the possible closure of the Lionhead studio in the UK, the closure of Press Play Studios in Denmark and the game Project: Knoxville.
The announcement was shocking as the Fable series has a lot of fans. The first title in the series was released in 2004, that is, the franchise has been on our consoles for over a decade. Fable is an RPG game, developed for PC, Xbox and Xbox 360. Then came Fable II in 2008 only for Xbox and Xbox 360. In 2010, it was time for Fable III to hit the market for Xbox 360 and PC.
In addition to the main series games came the spin off: Pub Games (2008, Xbox 360), Heroes (2012, Xbox 360) and The Journey released in 2012 for Xbox 360, supported by Kinect and which could only be played in single player mode.
As the game series was very successful, some books based on Fable were also released: Fable: The Balverine Order; Fable: Blood Ties e Fable: Edge of the World that makes up the Fable trilogy. The Balverine Order is the first volume of the trilogy and was published in 2010. Blood Ties is the second volume and was published in 2011. These first two volumes are authored by Peter David. Edge of the World, the last title of the trilogy was written by Christie Golden and published in 2012. Finally, the book, single volume, was also published in 2015. Fable: Blood of Heroes by Jim C. Hines. None of these works were published in the national market.
Legends would be another spin-off of the series of games and was being developed since 2012. The platforms that would receive the game would be Xbox One and PC.

Lionhead Studios is a British game development company founded by Peter Molyneux in 1996, being acquired by Microsoft in 2006. The award-winning company is especially famous for the Fable series, but has other well-known titles, such as games: Black & White e Black & White 2. Press Play Studios, founded in 2006, and based in Denmark has created games for multiple platforms. One of his most famous games is Max: The Curse of Brotherhood. This puzzle game was released in 2014 and can only be played in single-player mode on Xbox One, 360 and PCs.
