Since the end of 2022, many technology companies have been carrying out mass layoffs with the justification that the sector is experiencing major problems and a restructuring of the workforce is more than necessary. A Microsoft followed the same path, and terminated 10 employees during the third week of January 2023. Understand the details of this phenomenon.

Google employees received email announcing resignation

With the justification that it needs to carry out a large-scale restructuring in the midst of a decrease in demands on a global scale, the A, which controls the Google, announced that 12 employees will be laid off. We decided to reduce our workforce by approximately 12 jobs. The posts we are removing reflect the result of this review. The fact that these changes have an impact on the lives of 'Googlers' weighs heavily on me and I take full responsibility for the decisions that got us here.

Several sectors were affected by the mass layoffs and those who take care of recruitment, corporate functions, and engineering and product teams are part of the portion of those who received the email announcing the resignation. In the US, layoffs have an immediate effect and people have already stopped working. In other countries, the process may take a few more days due to local labor laws. But it is certain: the cut has taken place and the chosen ones are no longer "googlers".

We conducted a rigorous review across all product areas and activities to ensure that our people and roles are aligned with our most important priorities as a company.
