And since it's about money, many other controversies are involved - including deaths. A Russian tycoon cryptocurrencies ends up becoming yet another fatal victim, without further explanations about his death.

3rd mysterious death involving cryptocurrencies

In mysterious circumstances, yet another person in a high level of cryptocurrency influence dies, bringing the number of questionable deaths related to this branch to three in less than a month. the russian billionaire Vyacheslav Taran was killed when the helicopter he was traveling in crashed near Monaco. The accident happened in good weather and another alleged anonymous passenger canceled his trip at the last minute.

Ukrainian media reports previously claimed that Taran, who co-founded the trading and investment platform Libertex and the foreign exchange trading group Forex Club, had ties to Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service and had laundered Russian financial resources using various cryptographic operations.

Last week, the founder of the digital assets company amber group, headquartered in Hong Kong, Tiantian Kullander, died suddenly in his sleep. The 30-year-old turned the company into a $3 billion tech haven.

This string of mysterious deaths began a month before Kullander's death, with developer MakerDAO and crypto millionaire Nikolai Mushegian who apparently drowned in Puerto Rico. The tech wunderkind was said to suffer from various mental health issues, and just hours before his death, he tweeted a series of conspiracy-themed messages predicting his own death.

The CIA, Mossad and elite pedo are running some kind of sex trafficking blackmail ring in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean islands. They will frame me with a laptop planted by my ex [girlfriend] who was a spy. They will torture me to death.

The 29-year-old was reportedly found wearing his clothes and with his wallet. In July 2021, the cryptocurrency industry was rocked by the news that controversial Romanian crypto billionaire Mircea Popescu — also known as “the father of bitcoin toxicity” — had drowned in Costa Rica.

The 41-year-old, who gained a reputation for filling his lengthy blog posts with racist and sexist slurs, was an early adopter of bitcoin and reportedly left $2 billion worth of cryptocurrencies behind when he died. According to press reports, this stock may be lost forever, as not even the immediate family of Popescu have access to this content.

Death as a Highlight on Cryptocurrencies

And, of course, everyone in crypto knows about perhaps the most notorious death that has occurred in recent years in this field. In December 2018, QuadrigaCX founder, Gerald Cotten, died in India during their honeymoon. Cotten reportedly signed a will a few days before his death and was the only person with access to a cryptographic fortune worth millions of dollars.

The circumstances surrounding his death attracted so much attention that the Netflix turned the story into a documentary. Until today, the fortune of almost $170M monthly de Cotten has yet to be accounted for, leading many to speculate that he faked his death and is in hiding. The description of the documentary reads: “The sudden death of the young founder of a cryptocurrency platform, which was on the verge of bankruptcy, ends up sharpening the suspicions of some angry investors. Although the police, family and friends usually come forward to clarify that none of the deaths were suspicious, this rarely turns out to be reason enough to stop outlandish conspiracy theories from emerging. Mushegian's mysterious drowning, for example, gave rise to various theories that he was the target of a murderous banking cartel, Mossad, or a pedophile gang.
