All the new tools on the platform are related to live broadcasts and are intended to improve the lives — most seen on other social networks.

O YouTube It's definitely been one of the biggest ways to watch videos for many years. Considering that other platforms are entering the siege of the dispute for access and views, several ideas on how to capture the public with new tools have been created, even more so when considering the TikTok, for example, which already marks the millions of daily users. With that in mind and focused on live video broadcasts, will be included 5 new features of YouTube in 2022 that already exist in the competitors.

Shared live

Known as Go Live Together, the shared live is a way to make two people do a live broadcast simultaneously – a tool that we have already seen in Instagram and TikTok. It works like this: someone starts a broadcast on your YouTube channel, sends the link to someone else who wants to join, and that's it! The aggregate will participate in the live with whoever started it.

Currently, there are ways to perform this type of function on YouTube with applications or third-party means, but now the tool will be included in the platform itself. The creator of the broadcast will also be able to access information about the performance of the live and monetize the content, just like any other video posted on their channel. O Go Live Together it is in a testing period among some content creators and can be seen as soon as it is ready for the public.

lives information

Another feature often seen on Instagram and TikTok are the rings that are around the user's avatar indicating something new, namely:

  • Red ring written LIVE: That account is, in real time, streaming a live video;
  • red ring: There's a new post that will be deleted in a few hours – or rather, “there's a new Story”;
  • white ring: You've seen all the temporary posts for that account;
  • Avatar without a ring: There is no news about lives or Story and, when you click, you open the profile of that account.

This feature will be rolled out to smartphones and later to the rest of the platforms through which YouTube can be accessed — such as computers, smart TVs, etc.

Raid

If you are used to consuming transmissions from the platform Twitch, focused on games, probably knows what a RAID. But for those who have no idea what it is, here's a brief summary: you're doing a live and it's about to end, that's for an audience X of people, so you do a "RAID” to someone else who is also doing a live broadcast, that is, you will forward all that audience to this new broadcast. But instead of using that terminology, YouTube will call it “Cross Channel Live Redirects”, something like “Live Cross-Channel Redirection”.

The tool will be available for channels that have at least thousand subscribers and no kind of penalty through the platform, then it will be possible to redirect to other lives or premiere videos – the latter are those videos published on YouTube with interaction via chat, at the beginning. Currently, it is possible to do audience redirects within the channel itself, but now it will be possible to send them to other channels.

Unfortunately, there is a practice on Twitch where a streamer Raids to another channel with bad intentions in order to bully the other audience or other misconduct. Thinking about it, YouTube raids will be a little different, making whoever receives the raid only do so if he allows it to happen or for those accounts that are subscribed to that channel.

Full screen mode

Users will be able to switch between some modes of watching live streams in this new mode, which should reach the public in the coming weeks. The first of them is a split screen, with the left side with the video being broadcast and the right side with the comments in the chat. Another way will be to full screen, in which only the video being broadcast will appear, without the chat comments.

That way, an indicator in the lower right corner will appear showing how many people are watching at that moment. By selecting this part, you will still be able to see all the comments sent in the chat – switching to the previous view mode. According to the channel video Creator Insider, where this information was announced, this is the feature users are most looking forward to.

Questions and answers

And finally, a tool for questions and answers for greater interaction between the content creator and their audience – a feature also known as Q&A, an acronym for the English term “Questions & Answers”. Unlike the comments via chat, it will provide a specific space for the public to ask questions to the person responsible for the transmission.

Currently, there is already a similar feature on the platform, however, the intention here is to update it and make everything easier for the content creator to view, as well as improve the ease of interaction. The tool can be seen on Instagram, included for both stories as well as live broadcasts.
