One of the main new features involves devices Android. For this, the Google brought an advanced customization system, allowing users to put much more of their personality and style into their smartphone, without the need for third-party apps.

We have had an interesting improvement in animations, now more natural, fluid and elastic. For example, when dismissing a notification, nearby items react to the movement. Another new feature is related to Dynamic themes. Now, compatible applications adapt better to the content and in a more responsive way and with highlighted typography. This is a very interesting novelty, because, if applied well, it can expand the Material 3 Expressive for the entire system and Apps, leaving everything with your own style.

In addition to the animations, another cool new feature is the haptic feedback, present when interacting with notifications and controls, such as the volume slider. The notification bar has also gained prominence and now has a blur effect, similar to what we already see in iOS a few years ago, to be honest.

Finally, the Quick Settings have also received new features, allowing you to add more shortcuts, such as Flashlight or Do Not Disturb. As you can't miss, the real-time notifications have also arrived here: with this, when you are using a navigation App like Uber, for example, you will be able to see the status quickly on the lock screen and at the top of the screen, just like it is done in Dynamic Island do iPhone.

For smart watches, the Google announced an improvement to the scrolling animation that will mainly improve smartwatches with rounded designs, such as the Pixel Watch e Galaxy Watch. This is because the new animations follow the curvature of these models, creating a sense of depth. There has also been an improvement in elements that need to adapt to these screens, such as numeric keypads and media controls. Starting with this new version, they will have a better use of the screen and, as a consequence, a better experience for users.

In terms of customization, the company announced that the system's colors will now adapt according to the chosen dial, creating a more cohesive visual experience. In addition, the company also revealed the Glanceable UI, with expansive buttons that adjust to the display and more efficient icons, ensuring quick access to messages, workouts or health metrics. The update also promises an improvement of up to 10% more battery life on the WearOS 6 thanks to system optimizations.

The news comes with the WearOS 6 firstly on the devices Pixel Watch, also in 2025.

The use of AI Google in cars promises a more natural and easier interaction through voice. The idea is that we, as users, can use the Gemini while driving without having to remember specific key phrases for the interaction. An example is that when sending a message to a friend who speaks English or another language, the Gemini can remember to always send messages to that person in the specified language. Or even help you formulate the messages, if necessary.

Another new thing is finding places on the road. Assuming you were hungry, you could be more specific about it, like “finding good taco places along the way,” using the example of Google as a reference. AI can also use other Apps like Google Maps and YouTube Music to better map and find what you need.

Finally, it was announced that the Gemini Live It will also be used in cars. The cool thing about this new feature is that the driving experience will be expanded beyond the commands of a complex conversation, including brainstorming, exploring new ideas and much more without having to use your hands.

O Gemini No. Android Auto will be available in compatible cars in the coming months.

Among the new features, one of the main ones is that AI will be able to provide personalized content recommendations, such as movies suitable for children. It can also be used as a learning tool, providing answers and questions, as well as finding educational videos, something that, once again, Google emphasized for use with children.

In collaboration with Samsung, Gemini will finally reach the Android XR (Google's Extended Reality system) that involves headsets, glasses and others. With the help of Gemini, the use of this type of device gains new layers of interaction and usefulness, such as, for example, planning a trip with immersive information such as videos, maps and tips.

security improvements

Protection against SMS and phone scams

The App of Posts do Google already has native protection against SMS scams. However, this “Scam Detection” is undergoing improvements and becoming increasingly intelligent to adapt to new types of scams in this format. Some new scams that the app will be able to identify include cryptocurrency scams, financial scams, toll scams, gift card scams, and others. Best of all, these detections happen on the device itself, which keeps our conversations private.

Bank protections

O Android, will soon have more protection related to scams in banking apps, especially those involving screen sharing. The idea is that, in case of screen sharing during a call with a stranger, and when opening the banking app while this is happening, the Android will acknowledge the situation with a warning about the dangers of having your data exposed and offer the option to hang up the call and stop screen sharing.

This feature will be automatically activated in participating bank apps for calls with unknown contacts on all devices starting with Android 11. We still don't know which banks here in Brazil will be compatible.

Identity verification

Also called “Key verifier”, we will have a new tool from the company to protect us against scammers who try to impersonate people we know. It uses end-to-end encryption keys to confirm identity through Google Messages, but it will also be possible to check your contact keys using the App Google Contacts, scanning a QR code and comparing the numbers.

This way, through codes, the guarantee that you are talking to a real person and not a scammer becomes greater, which is great.

Theft protection

The “Thief Mode” of Android was launched in 2024 and tested first here, in Brazilian lands. It allows automatic blocking when theft is detected, remote blocking and even in cases where the device has gone offline. The novelty is due to the Identity Check, an extra layer of device security Android. What's striking here is that it works even if your PIN or password is compromised, showing the commitment of Google to improve your security. Currently, it is only available for smartphones pixel e Galaxy with One UI 7.

From the Android 16, the factory reset system will also receive an upgrade. For example, if someone formats your device without your permission, all functions of the device will be restricted. In addition, remote lock will have a new feature, which will require a security question when locking the device.

Warning against harmful apps

In the security options of the Android, we count on the Google Play Protect. With this update, it will be able to detect malicious applications that try to disguise themselves with icons that are the same as those you already use, such as banking apps, for example. In addition, with the help of machine learning, it will now scan all apps in real time, in addition to pre-download scanning in case it is a malicious application.

Find Hub

The “Find My Device” app is evolving and will be renamed “Find Hub”, aiming to make it easier to locate devices, tagged items, family and friends, all in one place. It will be integrated with the satellite connectivity of new smartphones, ensuring that you stay connected to friends and family even if you are without a mobile signal.

And, to keep the playful feel, you can customize many more things here, including with Disney-themed Bluetooth tags, for example.

Advanced Protection

Finally, with the Android 16, Advanced Protection becomes even more advanced. Its focus is to ensure enhanced security for users who need it, such as journalists, elected officials or any other type of public person who may be considered at risk.

Unlike the other “conventional” protection system, which focuses on blocking the device in case of theft, for example, Advanced Protection focuses on protecting it against online attacks, malicious apps or those with the risk of data theft. When activated, all the security systems mentioned and others exclusive to it become active here and can only be deactivated by the user.

Some examples of its use include the USB-C port, which now functions only as an input for charging the device, to prevent the installation of physical devices that could steal or compromise data on the device.
