During the Android Show, Google announced several new features for the Android which will begin to be applied in the coming months, together with the launch of Android 16. Changes for Android phones
One of the main new features involves devices Android. For this, the Google brought an advanced customization system, allowing users to put much more of their personality and style into their smartphone, without the need for third-party apps.

As you can't miss, the real-time notifications have also arrived here: with this, when you are using a navigation App like Uber, for example, you will be able to see the status quickly on the lock screen and at the top of the screen, just like it is done in Dynamic Island do iPhone.

In addition, the company also revealed the Glanceable UI, with expansive buttons that adjust to the display and more efficient icons, ensuring quick access to messages, workouts or health metrics. The update also promises an improvement of up to 10% more battery life on the WearOS 6 thanks to system optimizations.

Gemini on more devices
Android Auto
The use of AI Google in cars promises a more natural and easier interaction through voice. The idea is that we, as users, can use the Gemini while driving without having to remember specific key phrases for the interaction. An example is that when sending a message to a friend who speaks English or another language, the Gemini can remember to always send messages to that person in the specified language. Or even help you formulate the messages, if necessary.
Another new thing is finding places on the road. Assuming you were hungry, you could be more specific about it, like “finding good taco places along the way,” using the example of Google as a reference. AI can also use other Apps like Google Maps and YouTube Music to better map and find what you need.
Finally, it was announced that the Gemini Live It will also be used in cars. The cool thing about this new feature is that the driving experience will be expanded beyond the commands of a complex conversation, including brainstorming, exploring new ideas and much more without having to use your hands.

Google TV

This feature will be automatically activated in participating bank apps for calls with unknown contacts on all devices starting with Android 11. We still don't know which banks here in Brazil will be compatible.
Identity verification
Also called “Key verifier”, we will have a new tool from the company to protect us against scammers who try to impersonate people we know. It uses end-to-end encryption keys to confirm identity through Google Messages, but it will also be possible to check your contact keys using the App Google Contacts, scanning a QR code and comparing the numbers.
This way, through codes, the guarantee that you are talking to a real person and not a scammer becomes greater, which is great.
Theft protection
The “Thief Mode” of Android was launched in 2024 and tested first here, in Brazilian lands. It allows automatic blocking when theft is detected, remote blocking and even in cases where the device has gone offline. The novelty is due to the Identity Check, an extra layer of device security Android. What's striking here is that it works even if your PIN or password is compromised, showing the commitment of Google to improve your security. Advanced Protection
Finally, with the Android 16, Advanced Protection becomes even more advanced. Its focus is to ensure enhanced security for users who need it, such as journalists, elected officials or any other type of public person who may be considered at risk.
Unlike the other “conventional” protection system, which focuses on blocking the device in case of theft, for example, Advanced Protection focuses on protecting it against online attacks, malicious apps or those with the risk of data theft. When activated, all the security systems mentioned and others exclusive to it become active here and can only be deactivated by the user.
Some examples of its use include the USB-C port, which now functions only as an input for charging the device, to prevent the installation of physical devices that could steal or compromise data on the device.
