Samsung has launched a new version of its gaming monitor, and the generational changes are very welcome. Firstly, the Odyssey OLED G5As the name suggests, it now features a QD-OLED panel for delivering deep blacks, and has also gained an anti-reflective coating and a system to protect these panels. See all the details:
Design

O Odyssey OLED G5 It has a plastic structure as it's an entry-level model, and doesn't have integrated RGB lighting. Its base is screwed in, and the entire assembly process takes about ten minutes. This entry-level gaming monitor can also be mounted directly on a wall mount, as it has VESA mounting holes on the back.
Fabric

The big change between model launched in 2025 The difference lies in the change of panel type: the 2025 G5 had an IPS LCD panel, while the 2026 model has a QD-OLED panel with QHD/2K/2.5K resolution (QHD 2560×1440). Furthermore, the screen delivers... refresh rate up to 180Hz via DisplayPort connection, but the HDMI port reaches up to 144Hz.
Samsung also emphasizes that the response time is only 0,03 milliseconds, essential for more dynamic games that require quick thinking. It's worth remembering that the switch to OLED technology improves colors, especially in darker scenes where only the colored pixels on the screen are activated, creating better immersion.

The model also has certification. Pantone Validated, which guarantees fidelity of both vivid and dark tones, which become even more realistic with the OLED panel.
As is standard for all gaming monitors, the Odyssey OLED G5 It comes with support. AMD FreeSync e NVIDIA G-Sync to adapt the refresh rate and response time with the video card according to the game. This avoids fewer image cuts and distortions, reduces visual lag, provides smoother movements in fast-paced scenes, and improves responsiveness in action and FPS games, as well as reducing stuttering, tearing, and screen delays.
Doors

The Odyssey OLED G5 comes with a simpler set of rear ports. See below:
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 1x DisplayPort
- 1 x 3,5 mm P2 type input for headphones or speakers
- 1x USB-A input
- power connector
When more than one device is connected at the same time, the function Auto Source Switch+ It will switch to the port the device was plugged into, avoiding that manual switching. The same service can be seen on Samsung smart TVs and other brands.
Special Features
Black equalizer

O Black Equalizer It optimizes visibility by adjusting black levels in dark game scenes, revealing hidden details in the shadows to make it easier to spot enemies. All this intelligent processing is done in a balanced way, ensuring that areas that are already bright in the image do not become overexposed or blown out.
Virtual Aim

O Virtual Aim Point It displays a fixed crosshair superimposed directly in the center of the monitor screen, serving as a constant visual guide to aid in accuracy and improve the player's aim. This tool offers a significant competitive advantage, especially in first-person shooter (FPS) games that lack a constant native crosshair during gameplay.
Samsung OLED Safeguard+

Available on smart TVs and other gaming monitors from the company, the Samsung OLED Safeguard+ It serves as a protective layer for the screens. OLED, which are commonly known as more fragile compared to panels Mini LED and IPS. The protection package has three parts:
- Screen saverWhen a game is paused for too long, the screen will turn off to prevent a static image from becoming fixed and causing screen problems.
- Logo detectionThis is one of the biggest long-standing problems pointed out by owners of OLED smart TVs. The image will be analyzed in its entirety, and when a logo is detected, that part of the screen will have its brightness reduced.
- Pulsation Heat Pipe (Liquid Cooling): An advanced physical system that uses an internal coolant to drastically reduce the panel temperature, preventing overheating that leads to... burn-in.
