We started the conversation with Stray, better known as the cat game, which ended up becoming a phenomenon among game fans. The feline adventure takes place in third-person and takes place in the detailed neon-lit alleys of a futuristic city and the dark places of its underworld. It's no wonder that before its release, the game was nicknamed "Cyberpunk Cat".

Powered by Blue Twelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive, was released on July 19, 2022 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Both Tutu and I are living the experience of being a cat that ended up getting lost in a forgotten city and discovering a droid civilization. Our objective, together with the small B-12 drone, is to find a way out, solving puzzles and digging through the scenarios.

We commented on the game mechanics, which shine a lot because they make use of the animal's behavior towards the animal, such as groping and knocking over objects. Anyone who has or knows a kitten, knows! The counterpoint, as Tutu points out, is limited visibility due to the low camera, but nothing that interferes too much with the experience. So, Stray has the ShowmeCAST high-recommendation seal!

Paper Girls is a high-caliber sci-fi series

Showmecast 102 - paper girls
Hell Day is the day after Halloween – in which the Paper Girls girls travel back in time
Image: Prime Video/Playback

Among the novelties of Prime Video, in addition to the updated interface, is the adaptation of the comics Papergirls. Before my impressions, it is worth giving a brief summary of the plot. A few hours after Halloween night in 1988 - the day that is named after hell day – four 12-year-old girls have to face a mission. What they have in common: they all work delivering newspapers in the neighborhood and end up trapped in a complex conflict. Inside the house of one of them, they end up finding the adult version of one of the girls and discovering that they are in 2019, that is, 30 years ahead of their time.

This is just the first of 8 episodes that are incredibly well-written and full of sci-fi elements. It is worth checking! If you watch and enjoy, you can call me to chat about it!

Dusk Falls is not for everyone

Tutu was definitely not happy with the game's art direction.

After two great recommendations, Tutu brings some negative notes to one of his most recent endeavors: The Dusk Falls. The game is an interactive drama, coming directly from the creative mind of Caroline Marchal, former developer at Quantic Dream, where she was responsible for designing games such as Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Added to the fact that our dear friend, Arthur Pieri, doesn't get along very well with the aforementioned games, he still had to face a somewhat different art direction, with scenes much more static than fluid.

However, despite harsh criticism of the art style, he praises the story and script, based on difficult choices involving family, sacrifice and resilience. Has full review of As Dusk Falls on Showmetech too!

The classic The Last of Us among us again

The Last of Us Remastered for PS4 fulfills the role of being an update of the work well

Now, a classic that, from time to time, appears in our conversations. I had followed Joel and Ellie's story from someone else's experience in the original PS3 version. Last week I decided it was time to take this story into my own hands, I downloaded The Last of Us Remastered in the classics section of ps plus deluxe. The title was released in 2014, the year after the original version, as an update to the latest console at the time.

In everything that was proposed, the remaster is fantastic! In addition to the visual upgrades, with a rate of 60 frames per second, against 30 for the PS3, the update also brings new features such as the photography mode with different types of filters and use of the speaker of the Dualshock 4 for sound effects, such as shaking the flashlight to turn it on again. The DLC Left Behind, a prelude to Ellie's story before meeting Joel, is also there, along with a making of with a commentary option from the director and main voice actors.

Specialize in Demon Fusion in Megami Tensei

Megami tensei - showmecast 102
Japanese game series is among the presenter's favorites

Finally, like a good otaku, Tutu talks about the entire series of Megami Tensei with shining eyes! The RPG is known for its difficulty and for redefining the genre with sequential combat, in which “demons” are not understood in the Christian or more immediate sense of the word. Any non-human magical entities are considered demons. Thus, the game makes special use of creatures from Japanese Mythology, including Greek, Inca, Mayan, Javanese, African, Chinese, Celtic and several other mythologies.

Almost a kind of Pokémon, the player needs to recruit demons in his favor, and then merge them to create more powerful allies. If you like the idea, Tutu is also available for an exchange of insights on the possible ramifications of the fusion of demons.

So, did any of these works arouse your curiosity? listen to the ShowmeCAST to update your list!
