O Adblock Plus is one of the most used extensions to block ads. Many users turn to the software to avoid seeing advertisements that precede the videos on YouTube and the banners spread across the sites. The solution works great on desktops and the feature is now coming to Android smartphones.

The team of developers Adblock Plus announced who is working on a navigator for the Google operating system, based on the development code of the Firefox. The browser does not remove all advertisements from the sites, but eliminates invasive ones that hinder navigation.

This is not the first attempt by the AdBlock hit the Android: they have already released an app capable of hiding the ads. However, to run the extension you need to install two .apk files (the app was removed from the Google Play Store in 2013, along with other similar services) and run it via proxy. Also, the solution only works on Wi-Fi.

In addition to removing the advertising, developers point out other advantages, such as the reduction in data consumption and faster loading speed, as less content will be downloaded on browser pages.

They also say that the use of the browser can increase the battery life smartphone by up to 23%, by preventing ads from consuming processing and using your location information.

Although there is no version of Firefox for iOS, the company said it is also preparing a version of Adblock Plus for Apple's system.
