As of today you will be able to make purchases on the App Store in Reais and no longer in Dollars. See the benefits of change.

Apple had already confirmed at the beginning of last month that in mid-2018 it would start charging in Real na App Store from Brazil. However, she had not given a specific date. Well, here's what Apple users woke up this Thursday (4) with a nice surprise in all content stores and services of Apple . All charges will be made in our currency.

And, contrary to what most imagined, prices were a little lower. So, as of today, any purchase or subscription made on App StoreiTunes StoreiBook StoreApple MusiciCloud will be charged in reais and no longer in dollars. The change is valid for everyone, both for those who already subscribe to a service and for new subscribers.

The change allows national cards to be used for purchases. Previously, only international credit cards could be used. In addition, debit cards can also be used, although this function is currently unavailable.

How are the prices?

Na App Store, Apple's app store, the lowest price is US$ 0,99 which, on conversion to real, becomes R$3,50. We made a table below that shows what the new prices in reais will look like:

  • $0,99 - BRL 3,50
  • $1,99 - BRL 6,90
  • $2,99 - BRL 9,90
  • $3,99 - BRL 12,90
  • $4,99 - BRL 16,90
  • $5,99 - BRL 19,90
  • $9,99 - BRL 32,90
  • $14,99 - BRL 49,90
  • $19,99 - BRL 64,90

As you can see, the lowest price for an application is R$3,50 and can go up to R$64,90. However, with local currency billing, developers can apply alternative pricing, such as R$0,99R$1,99. It is already possible to find some apps with these lower prices in the store.

Now you can make purchases on the app store in reais

Apple Music, in turn, costs R$16,90 in the individual plan (in dollars it was US$ 4,99) and in the family plan it goes for R$24,90 (in dollars it was US$ 7,99). Subscription to Apple's Storage Service, the iCloud also entered the change. Now the 50Gb plan costs R$2,90 ($0,99), the 200GB one costs R$8,90 ($2,99) and the 2TB one costs R$29,90 (US $ 9,99).

speaking now of iTunes Store, the music and movie store of Apple , an individual track goes out by R$1,90 ou R$2,90. And a movie that used to cost US$ 19,99 is now R$37,90. And finally, in iBook Store, it is now possible to find books of only R$0,90!

Summing it Up

As we could see, this change was very positive, as it lowered prices, allows the use of national and debit cards and we will no longer have to pay the infamous IOF tax, which is 6,38% on the transaction value.

All that remains now is to know when we will be able to use gift cards, to make it even easier to buy apps, movies, music, books and service subscriptions. And you, what did you think of this change?
