Amazon launches “Almost New” to sell used, pre-owned or repackaged items

A Amazon now has a new category for selling returned products that can still be used. With the name of Almost new, the modality comes to allow people to buy items at a lower price and there is an inspection carried out by the company itself, in addition to everything being able to be returned within 30 days. What is Amazon Almost New?

This is the resale modality of Amazon for used, pre-owned products or those that had their boxes opened but were returned for some reason. The company highlights that these items return to its marketplace with discounts ranging from 10% to 35% of the original value, in the following categories:

• Toys;
• cell phones and smartphones;
• Computers and IT;
• Kitchen;
• Electronics;
• Construction tools and materials
• Books;
• Gamer items.

The new feature was launched on October 19th and could be an interesting alternative for those who want to pay less on an item they have wanted to buy for a long time. How are items categorized?

Before an item returns to the marketplace, the Amazon highlights in its press release that experts will analyze the products completely: technical tests, visual inspections and other analyzes to find out if the item can actually be resold. So, after that, they are allocated into four categories: used as new, very good, good and acceptable. They were explained as:

• Used – Like New: The item is in perfect working condition. The packaging may show minor signs of wear, but the item functions perfectly and all its essential accessories are complete.
• Used – Very good: The item is in very good condition and fully functional. It may have been lightly used and have small signs of use or marks, have damaged packaging or have been repackaged. It may not have any non-essential accessories.
• Used – Good: The item is in good condition and fully functional. May show wear due to moderate use. The item may arrive with damaged packaging or have been repackaged and may have minor signs of use or marks, such as a small scratch. The item may be missing some essential accessories.
• Used – Acceptable: the item may have clear signs of use, but still fulfills its main function. It may arrive with damaged packaging or have been repackaged. The item may have wear, marks, or show other signs of previous use, including scratches, dents, and frayed corners or edges.

As it is responsible for promoting and categorizing items that return to its marketplace, Amazon highlights that everything purchased through the new program can be returned within 30 days, through the Company's Returns Policy.
