Assembly of God launches mobile operator “Mais AD”

The Assembly of God – the largest evangelical church in Brazil, with more than 18 million faithful – is the newest mobile phone operator on the market. Last Wednesday, 30/09, the church announced the launch of a cell phone operator, the “More AD“, which will offer content, services and applications developed by leaders of the congregation and will have national 3G and 4G coverage.

“The pioneering operation was carried out by Movttel MVNO and is characterized as an operator accredited Living“, informs the direction of the congregation to the market. Initially, the company will make chips available only in São Paulo, where the congregation has 2 churches and around 2,4 million faithful. The new operator will be the third MVNO (acronym in English for Mobile Network Virtual Operator) in the country, after the launch of Mobile Dator – which operates under the brand name of the European group Vodafone – and Porto Seguro Telecommunications – from the insurance group of the same name, and intends to be one of the largest MVNOs in the world, with a goal of reaching 1 million active users in the first 12 months of operation.

The prepaid chips will be sold at 45 points enabled for the sale and recharge of cell phone credits, in addition to volunteer employees, and have a suggested price of R$9,90. After acquiring the chip, customers have access to a menu of services (free and paid) from the Assembly of God, including “Prayer Requests”, church addresses and calendar of events, in addition to other content such as “Theme of the Week” , “Testimony”, “Moment with the Bible” and “Evangelical Newsletter”. A second stage provides for offering games with evangelical themes and social networks for customers.

It should be noted that churches are constantly seeking to be present in markets like this. Pay-TV is another example of services that are already provided by religious institutions.
