How digital signature works
Digital signature is a method of guaranteeing the authorship and integrity of an electronic document. The issuer uses his private key — which is a unique and secret sequence of numbers and letters — to encrypt the content of the document, generating a code called a hash. This code is attached to the document.
The recipient, in turn, uses the sender's public key, which is a corresponding public sequence of numbers and letters, to decrypt the content of the document and compare the result with the hash received. If the values are the same, it means that the document has not been altered and that it was signed by the real issuer.
