A Avatoys, a Brazilian company specialized in capturing images and print 3D, announced the start of its operation through a kiosk at Morumbi Shopping in São Paulo. From the 21st of August, consumers will be able to purchase one of his miniatures for prices ranging from R$150,00 a R$250,00.
Although not something new, only recently has 3D printing started to become popular. Even so, few are aware of its non-industrial applications. The printing of avatars and thumbnails is the beginning of a movement to popularize 3D printing.
“It's a simple and quick way to immortalize who we love. I believe that everyone would like to see themselves in 3D with as much detail as possible”, explains Caio Alegre, founder and general director of Avatoys. The thumbnail creation process is simple: just stand for 15 seconds on a turntable. Adapted cameras capture the images, which are processed in 3D by the company's exclusive software. Afterwards, the avatar is produced in large-scale 3D printing and can be picked up by the customer within 5 working days at the kiosk.
Despite looking like a toy, the company delivers the avatar in an acrylic dome and recommends that it be kept out of the reach of children, as it is a fragile souvenir. However, it is possible to order the reprint if necessary, as the images are stored in a company database.
Avatoys will market three types of 3D avatars:
- 10 cm tall, with a suggested price of R$ 150
- 12 cm tall, with a suggested price of R$ 200
- 14 cm tall, with a suggested price of R$ 250
The company's kiosk is located in the central corridor on the ground floor of Morumbi Shopping in São Paulo. The company will also provide gift vouchers. Soon, the company intends to expand its operations to other malls and launch new personalized print 3D.
