The rumor that WhatsApp charges a monthly fee is false; don't fall for it. There has been no official announcement or statement from WhatsApp regarding this. Not to mention how terrible it is.

Whatsapp

There was a rumor today on the WhatsApp that CEO Marcos Fillardi announced that the application will have a monthly fee of US$ 2,99 and if you do not forward the message to 20 contacts, you will have to pay an amount of US$ 20 to renew your account.

Okay, here we go, the message it's a rumor. There is no official notice or position from the WhatsApp about this. Not to mention the bad Portuguese of the message and the fact that the CEO of WhatsApp be Jim Balsamic and not the one quoted in the message.

Another point, the WhatsApp is already paid. At the iOS the application costs U$ 0.99 (amount paid only once). On Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and Nokia platforms, it costs $0.99 per year. At the Android, to check your account status on the main screen go to Menu -> Settings -> Account Information -> Payment Information. For more information see the FAQ of them in English.

And friend, please, this kind of rumor has been around forever, it's past time to stop falling for these pranks anymore, right? In fact, what drives someone to start something like this?
