O Instagram launched this Thursday (22) the Boomerang, its newest standalone app. And it's not for taking pictures or GIFs, it does "boomerangs”.
Like "Instagram boomerang” you create mini-videos – just point the camera at something (or someone) moving for 1 second – and the app does the rest of the work for you. Then you can share it with your friends via Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp or save to camera roll.
To use the application it is not necessary to create an account or login, just enter and press a single button. Video saved on mobile can be cut and edited like regular video.
The app works like this: it takes a sequence of 10 photos and stitches them together, speeds up the video and displays the images in a loop back and forth, causing a different feeling than a Animated gif or a regular looping video like in the app wine.
The idea of Boomerang is to capture fun and unusual moments of everyday situations to share with friends.
The application is available from today (22) for download on platforms: iOS on App Store and Android on Google Play.
