There is in Brazil 99 million of computers in use, added to those used in the corporate and domestic environments, which represents about one piece of equipment for every two inhabitants. The data are from the 23rd Annual IT Survey (Information Technology), released by the Center for Applied Information Technology of the São Paulo School of Business Administration, FGV (Fundação Getúlio Vargas).
The survey shows that the total number of computers in use in the country doubled in the last four years and that, in 2012, another 17,9 million units should be sold. The research estimates that, in six years, Brazil will have one computer per inhabitant.
The percentage of computers per inhabitant in Brazil (about 51%) places the country above the world average (42%). In the United States, there are about 354 million computers, or 114% of the population.
The number of telephones in use in Brazil is 300 million, or 153% of the population, the same percentage found in the United States. Worldwide, the average is 108%.
