During CES 2018 what is happening in Las Vegas, Samsung announced, among other news, a digital dashboard for smart cars developed in partnership with Harman to make the experience of driving a technological adventure worthy of science fiction movies.
Technology on four wheels
The video presented at the conference reveals a concept that Samsung want to create to make smart vehicles fully connected to all other devices in our daily lives, such as smartphones, smartwatches, etc. Who revealed more details of the idea was the CEO of Harman, Dinesh Paliwal.
To create this experience on four wheels, the Samsung and Harnan are developing an advanced digital panel called the “Digital Cockpit Platform”. In this place, all the car's functionalities and the way in which it will connect to other smart devices were concentrated.
“Our cars are no longer islands”, Dinesh said, wanting to emphasize the focus of the Samsung in connecting the user's vehicle with all the other devices that are part of their daily lives. For example, the digital dashboard can provide you with information about your smart fridge items that are out of stock and save you work by telling you what you need to buy at the supermarket.
He also commented on the importance of the environment being integrated into the vehicle through sensors, be they movement, proximity or even to allow communication between two different cars. This kind of technology could be the key to creating a future of safer, more automated and accident-free driving.
In addition to all the features that the Samsung and Harman promise to bring to smart cars very soon, certainly the highlight of this new product was its bold and very simple design, since both companies value the issue of usability and the ability to approach any type of user (from the experts) of state-of-the-art technologies.
