CES 2025: Lenovo shows off ThinkPad X9 Aura Edition with AI that organizes documents, and other lines, at the show

CES 2025 is also a stage for the launch of notebooks for the corporate market and Lenovo took the opportunity to show its new Thinkpads with AI with a custom AI, trained with a language model from Meta. The models will arrive in Brazil in 2025 and we tell you all the details right now.

This is the personal assistant integrated into Lenovo's new notebooks. It was developed using Meta's Llama 3.0 language model and is intended to be a “Lenovo Copilot,” as it can perform a variety of tasks using simple text commands written in the chat box.

In addition to providing answers to questions on a variety of topics, Lenovo AI Now will also support document organization and device management, allowing users to interact naturally with their personal knowledge base for quick searches, text summaries and more. In the future, Lenovo’s personal assistant will be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Cross-device knowledge retrieval: it will be possible to search for information on devices that have AI Now installed, so that documents and other files can be easily found;
  • Document searches and summaries: by selecting parts of images or complete documents, AI will be able to create complete summaries so that the user does not need to waste time looking at everything and thus makes decisions easier.
  • Multilingual support: In addition to English, the personal assistant will work in German, Spanish and French. The company hopes this will help make AI Now even more accessible, although it did not say when it will also work in Brazilian Portuguese or Spanish.

It is important to note that it is not intended to replace Microsoft's Copilot artificial assistance, but rather to work alongside it. This is because it will be possible to have access on Microsoft machines. Aura Edition line, when the two are combined, the:

  • Smart Modes: with five custom settings – Protection, Collaboration, Attention, Energy and Well-being - you Smart Modes allow users to easily switch between optimized device settings. These modes help improve security, manage energy efficiency, support virtual meetings, and even encourage healthy digital habits.
  • Smart Sharing: developed in collaboration with Intel makes it easy to quickly transfer photos between Android or iOS devices and the ThinkPad X9, creating a seamless, integrated experience across devices.
  • Smart Care: This feature provides access to real-time diagnostics and enhanced support services from Lenovo. O Smart Care provides 24/7 live agent support through multiple channels for personalized support at any time and access to all online support documentation for self-service and troubleshooting, ensuring uninterrupted productivity and device health.

O Lenovo AI Now is available for download for select ThinkPad X9 devices and wider availability is expected over the next few months.

ThinkPad X9 Aura Edition

Launched with two screen sizes (14 and 15 inches), the first Thinkpad with AI is aimed at small and medium-sized businesses and comes with an updated processor, without leaving high productivity aside. Both models also support Microsoft's Copilot + PC program and are ready to perform AI activities through the NPU present in the processor. Lenovo AI Now will also be available for use from day one.

The OLED display is present in both models, but two of them have touchscreen support. The company claims that the 100% DCI-P3 certification, also present in all models, provides a great working experience. See details of the three variants:

  • 14″ with OLED-type WUXGA resolution, 400 nits peak brightness and 60Hz refresh rate, plus HDR500 and EyeSafe;
  • 14″ with 2.8K OLED resolution, touchscreen support, 500 nits peak brightness and 120Hz refresh rate, plus HDR600;
  • 15,3, with 2.8K OLED resolution, touchscreen support, peak of up to 1.100 nits and 120Hz refresh rate, in addition to HDR600, TrueBlack and EyeSafe.

A 15,3K version without touchscreen support was also on display at CES 2025, so those who prefer the larger models won't necessarily have to buy a touchscreen.

The ThinkPad X9 series features a sophisticated contemporary design, combining elegance with
practical innovation that ThinkPad customers have come to expect. With covers made from 50% aluminum
recycled, the X9 14'' and X9 15'' models display a sophisticated, ultra-thin profile, featuring a sleek bottom cover with metal grooves.

The webcam can make video calls in 2K resolution or take photos in 8 MP, and also has an infrared sensor for facial recognition. A physical privacy door is available to maintain privacy.

Like all ThinkPad notebooks, the X9 is also durable, having been tested to MIL-SPEC 810H standards and designed to withstand the demands of everyday professional use. This meticulous design features a chassis with components and connections that optimize cooling and performance, enabling greater productivity without sacrificing the device’s slim form factor.

The models will be launched in the famous ThinkPad color, which is called Thunder Gray, with weights ranging from 1,21 kg to 1,45 kg. The thickness will also not exceed 18 millimeters. The ports are:

All models feature the Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processor with overclocking up to 5,0GHz. In terms of graphics, the company chose to use the Intel Arc GPU that works in good harmony with the processor.

The models will be sold with Windows 11 Home, Windows 11 Pro or Linux, and you will need to make this choice at the time of purchase. Special software for the ThinkPad line and Lenovo's new special assistant, AI Now, will also be available at launch.

There are features to maintain privacy: the webcam can detect the owner's presence and, if you get up from the table, the screen will automatically lock. A fingerprint reader for greater security when accessing the system and making online purchases is present in the button to turn the screen on and off.

Memory and storage

The new ThinkPad X9 Aura Edition notebooks will be sold with a PCIe Gen4 SSD of up to 2 TB, with the possibility of adding another SSD of up to 1 TB in the additional slot. As for RAM, it will have up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X type.

Connectivity

Due to their processor, Lenovo's new notebooks have an antenna with support for connecting to Wi-Fi 7 points. The Bluetooth antenna complies with the Bluetooth 5.4 standard.

The models also have a variable refresh rate of 24 Hz to 120 Hz and Lenovo's advanced proprietary AI Power Solution, which dynamically adjusts the backlight and pixel intensity to optimize power consumption without compromising image quality.

Price and availability
