Scientists discover Earth's sister planet

A NASA announced this week the discovery of a planet outside our solar system that closely resembles the EARTH.

Known as kepler-22b, is the first located in the habitable zone of your solar system, meaning that there can be liquid water on its surface, an essential requirement for the emergence of life as we know it. It is two and a half times larger than the EARTH, and is located at 600 light years away.

According to estimates, the temperature on the surface of the planet is 22°C, and it orbits a star very similar to ours, albeit in a shorter period, completing a year in 290 days.

Scientists claim that it is possible that the planet contains water and is rocky, but there is still the possibility that it is just a gaseous body.

A Kepler, mission of NASA responsible for the discovery, has exactly this objective: to find potentially habitable planets in other solar systems, which have similar characteristics in size and proximity to the star in which they orbit with the EARTH. have already been identified 48 candidates, but the planet Kepler 22-b is the first to receive confirmation.
