O Google already launched a new interface for gmail, and now your browser is starting to get a new look. O Google Chrome is gaining more elements related to the Material Design, aimed mainly at facilitating use in devices with touch screens such as smartphones and tablets.
Material Design is already starting to be implemented in several other products of the company and, for those who are curious about these changes, it is now possible to activate the test version of the new Google Chrome interface in a simple and easy way.
How to enable the new Google Chrome Interface
1 – First, open Google Chrome and type “chrome://flags#uifood” (without the quotes) in the address bar.
2 – Look for the option “UI Layout for the browser's top chrome" on the list. To find it more easily, press ctrl + f and type “UI Layout” to find on the page.
3 – When you find the option, go to the dialog box on the side and select the option “touchable“. It will initially be in the option “Default".
4 – A message will appear just below showing that the changes will take effect the next time you restart the Google Chrome. Click in "restart now” for the browser to restart with the new interface.
Version differences
As we can see, there are some differences between the current Chrome and the revamped one. For example, the address bar gets a more rounded look and the options for shortcuts, links and applications are more separated for easier use on touchscreens.
With this, the interface becomes more comfortable for use on smartphones and tablets, for example. However, as it is still in testing, it is possible that new modifications will appear during its development. So stay tuned here for new information.
