With the metaverse increasingly on the rise, the Meta is one of the companies that has invested the most in this new form of creation on the internet, having launched in mid-2021 the beta version of HorizonWorkrooms, the metaverse platform for online work meetings. But how to create a meeting in the metaverse and conduct a meeting in virtual reality? We tell you in this tutorial!
Horizon Workrooms Criteria
The first step to create a meeting on the platform metaverse of Facebook is having a Workrooms account for the team. To do this, you need to have a Oculus Quest 2 headset, recently renamed by Meta as Meta quest, also used to access the meeting in virtual reality. These glasses are sold in the US for $299 and you can find them at the Showmetech store for R$ 3.199,99. If any team member does not have the headset, it is possible to access the room through the version for web desktop of the application, but without all the interactivity of augmented reality.

Like Meta quest is necessary to create a room or to access it in VR mode (acronym for virtual reality), it is also necessary to have a Facebook account, a requirement for using the headset.
If you want to use your computer in VR, you also need to install the Oculus Remote Desktop, available to MacOS e Windows. Using this program, you can view your computer screen in VR. The feature allows you to switch between different screens as it is not possible to view two or more monitors simultaneously.
How to create a meeting in Horizon Workrooms
If you don't have an account, the first step is to create one on the platform, registering your email to receive a confirmation code.
After entering the code in the indicated field, you will be redirected to a page where you can create your own room or enter an existing link. The site does not yet offer Portuguese as a language option, but Spanish can be chosen for those who have difficulty with English.

By clicking the button Create a New Workrooms Team (Create a new team Workrooms, in free translation), the user is taken to a page like the one in the image below to name the team, where the full name of the user and the password of the room must also be entered. Finally, there is a checkbox to say whether or not you agree to receive emails with information, events and promotions from HorizonWorkrooms.

When submitting the information, a welcome message will appear on the screen, as well as answers to some frequently asked questions about the service, information about the operating status of the system's sensors, quest 2 and about the minimum age of 18 years to use the application.
Click on the button Continue and your page Workroom will be loaded as in the image below. After this process, you will be able to enter the metaverse.

From there, you can create actions the team needs to take, share notes, files and links, text chat or even join an instant meeting by clicking Join Workroom (enter the Workroom, in free translation) and invite guests through the link button on the side or through the button Add People (Add People, in free translation).
The option to accept guests can also be turned off, making it possible to join a Workroom only those who are team members. Another available meeting possibility is to be able to schedule a meeting for a specific time and day using the button new meeting (New meeting, in free translation) and invite specific people to that meeting using the button Add People.
Only 16 people can be in VR at a meeting No. HorizonWorkrooms, 50 being the maximum number of people on a call in all – counting those who joined without VR and only on simple video call.
From the real environment to the metaverse
If you want the most complete Virtual Reality experience possible with your meeting at HorizonWorkrooms and enter the metaverse, it is necessary to fulfill some requirements first.
As the platform allows avatars, the customizable representations of team members in VR, to point to things in the virtual meeting room, a space is needed for each type of use, in addition to the mandatory use of the Meta Quest headset for this type of participation in meetings.
If you want to use your desktop in VR, with your computer and keyboard compatible, the recommended space is at least 1,2m x 1,2m. To use the virtual whiteboard to present something, you need a space of 2m x 1,5m.
