How to delete duplicate contacts on Android phones

Step 3: Now, select merge and fix.

Step 4: If your calendar has duplicate names, this function will find them and highlight those that can be merged. Otherwise, it will be pointed out that there is no double contact.

Step 5: Touch merge to change every single contact or Merge All to remove all double names. Alternatively, if you find an incorrect suggestion, tap Dismiss to not merge this contact.

Deleting duplicate contacts manually

Although Google Contacts' Merge and Correct function gives you precise options for duplicate contacts to merge, you can also select and merge each name in your contact list manually, if you have already identified them. See step by step how to remove it manually:

Step 1: Open the Google Contacts app. Tap the vertical ellipsis icon in the search bar and choose Select between the menu options.

Step 2: Look for duplicates in your contact list and tap the contacts you want to merge.

Step 3: Once selected, tap the ellipsis icon in the search bar again and select merge to merge the selected ones into a single contact.
