How to recover deleted files on cloud services

Os cloud services are widely used not only as a form of backup, but also for sharing files on the desktop. However, some file may end up being deleted by you or someone you have shared it with. If you don't know how to recover deleted files in cloud services, this user guide showmetech shows you how to solve this problem.

As with computers with physical storage, services such as Google Drive, Microsoft One Drive, iCloud and other competitors have a recycle bin so that the recovery of deleted files takes place in a few seconds. Find out how to get your files back right now.

Google Drive

Widely used, due to the easy access by those who have a Google Account, recover deleted files from the Google Drive it's a simple task. The process is the same to recover deleted files on a computer with Windows ou MacOS, since the recovery is done through the Google Drive web interface

All you need to do first is make sure you are logged into the same account where the deleted files were saved. Then just go to the official page of the Google Drive and locate the trash can icon that is right above your storage status. See this example:

Now that you are on a new screen, just locate the photos, videos or other types of files that were deleted from the main folder and by right-clicking, select “Restore”. Automatically, the file will be sent to the folder where it was saved.

The same step goes for smartphone apps, so if you happened to be working on a file and because of some mistake, you end up deleting it, don't panic. Just go to the recycle bin and do the restore.

It is important to remember that everything that is sent to the trash will be automatically deleted permanently after 30 days, so don't delay the restoration so you don't lose your files for good. You can also access the recycle bin Google Drive through its own link.

Microsoft One Drive

A Microsoft is also present in the cloud services market with the One Drive, which provides 5 GB in its free plan to save files. To regain access to deleted files, start by logging into your One Drive account on the web.

Then, in the left corner of the screen, you just need to select the trash can icon, which is located as the last item in the shortcut list of the Microsoft One Drive. Thus:

Then just follow the basics: select the files that are in the trash that you want to access again and then click on “Restore”. The document, photo or video will then be sent to the folder where it was saved before being deleted. If you want to do a bulk restore, just click on “Restore All Items” next to “Empty Recycle Bin”. This is the screen that should be displayed for you:

Na special page about restoring deleted files, the Microsoft points out that all files will be deleted after 30 days, that's talking about personal accounts. The deadline increases to 93 days for those who have a student or corporate account.

Most used by device users Apple , know that you can also recover deleted files in one of these cloud services. The first step to get what was sent to the trash is through the home page of the iCloud Drive. Thus:

In a new screen, you will see all the files that were sent to the trash of the iCloud Drive. To restore everything at once, just click on “Recover All”. You can also restore just one of the deleted files by marking it and then clicking “Recover”.

Everything sent to the trash will stay in this virtual space for a maximum of 30 days. THE Apple also ensures that even if you haven't sent the files to your iPhone or main computer, it will still be possible to have access to everything that was deleted by mistake.

If you've deleted some content from other apps, you can also restore it. in the section of Settings do iCloud.com, just select “Restore Files” advanced settings to be able to see everything that can be sent to the trash.

Dropbox

Also quite popular in Brazil, Dropbox is another one of the cloud services that allow you to rescue all files that have been sent to the recycle bin within 30 days.

The first step is to login to the homepage and then locate the “Deleted Files” section. This option is also in the left corner of the screen.

Now, just follow the basics. As soon as you start to see the files that were deleted from the main folder, just make the mark and then click on “Restore”. And that's it, the contents you marked will be sent back to the source folder. Be careful, because next to the restore button, there is the button to permanently delete the file.

iDrive

Despite the name, this is not a solution from the Apple for the cloud services market. Focused on keeping your files safe, the plus point of iDrive is that before sending the file to the trash, you need to confirm your account password. That way, if you've clicked an option by mistake, you're less likely to need to restore files. But if you need to, you can still restore any content that is in the trash iDrive.

The first point is to log in to the official website of this cloud services option and then locate the recycle bin section, which should appear to you as “Trash“. This is the fifth option in the list located in the left corner of the screen. Here:

Inside the recycle bin, after clicking on “deleted sync files“, you will find the files that are permanently saved. Then, once you find what you need, just click the arrow in the right corner of the file and click “put Back“. It is also possible to make a bulk selection to restore multiple photos at once, also by clicking “put back” so that everything is sent to the folder where it was saved.

All files that are sent to the recycle bin after confirmation via the user's password will be permanently deleted after 30 days. So don't waste time and always do the restoration as soon as possible.

Box

Closing our list of options for cloud services that allow the recovery of deleted files, we have the Box. This option is paid, even for people who just need a place to leave all their files, but it doesn't interfere with the restoration. Just go to the home page of Box and then locate the recycle bin, which is also in the left corner.

Now, it's time to recover all files that were deleted by mistake. You can do a search using the magnifying glass area if there are many files in your Box. Then just click on “Restore” to return the file to the folder or home page. That simple!

More focused on the business sector, despite options such as Google Drive, Microsoft One Drive e iCloud have corporate plans, the official website of Box guarantees that files in the recycle bin will be deleted after 30 days. But this time period can be increased or decreased by administrators.

Don't Forget How To Restore Deleted Files In Windows

Now that you know how to get the deleted files back, it is also important to remember that the Windows has the famous Trash can so you can restore everything deleted from any folder on your entire computer. Brand models like Motorola, Xiaomi e Samsung they also already have their own trash can only on their smartphone, so there's no reason to panic.
