How to transcribe audio message to text on WhatsApp

Simply put, the Meta confirmed that it will be possible to transcribe audio messages to text on WhatsApp. Some users already had access to this feature earlier this year, but it will soon be available to everyone. The feature is useful in noisy places or when you simply prefer not to hear the audio. Check out how to use the new feature right now.

How to enable transcription

Still in the implementation process, to perform audio to text transcription on WhatsApp it is important that your WhatsApp application is updated to be able to transcribe audio. So, before that, do this check (and update) in App Store ou Google Play Store. So, follow the steps:

Step 01: on the WhatsApp home screen, access the Settings/Settings from your WhatsApp in the drop-down menu by clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner. Here:

Step 03: select option “Voicemail Transcription”;

Below that, choose your preferred language (between Portuguese, English or Russian).

Transcribing audio to text requires an internet connection (via Wi-Fi or mobile data). Another factor is that anything transcribed will not be sent to any server. Meta also emphasizes in the press release that “no one else, not even WhatsApp, can listen to or read your personal messages".
