You can now have the same WhatsApp account on 2 or more cell phones (including tablets and iPads). The new feature, called Companion Mode, works on Android e iPhone (iOS), and is easily activated. See how to do it:
Why use one WhatsApp account on two phones?
The biggest benefit is the possibility of chatting with your contacts, viewing the same chats on different devices you have.
For example, you can start chatting on your cell phone Android and then continue on a tablet. Or write a message on your iPad and see the reply to it on your iPhone. I, for example, have 2 cell phones, and I can finally talk to my contacts regardless of which device I decide to go out on the street. The function is compatible with:
- Android smartphones
- Android Tablets
- iPhones
- iPads
Once activated, conversations or chats will be synchronized between two or more devices.
Android step by step
Step 1: Firstly, download the app WhatsApp for all devices that will be connected. If you have Android, it is available on Google Play. If you have one iPhone ou iPad, you can find it in Apple App Store.
Also, check that the WhatsApp is already enabled on at least one device. It will be considered yours main device. If you have not yet completed this process, follow the account activation settings indicated in the app itself.
Step 2: on your additional cell phone or tablet, access the WhatsApp (assuming you have already downloaded it) and start the activation process (this will be your additional device). click in agree and continue.
Step 3: on the next screen, do not enter your phone number. Instead, look for the three points, located in the top-right corner of the app. Click on it and then click on the option Connect as an additional device.
Step 4: a new screen will then be displayed with a QR Code on the additional device, like this:
Step 5: With QR Code generated, return to your main device, access the WhatsApp and, on the chat (or conversations) screen, look for and click on your profile photo, located in the top-right corner, and select the option connected appliances.
Step 6: Then click connect device. The app will then ask you to authenticate the process, using fingerprint or facial biometrics. After confirming the biometrics, the smartphone's camera will be activated, so you can photograph the QR Code.
Step 7: Now use the main unit to photograph the QR Code on the additional (or secondary) device. When reading the QR Code is finished, just wait and the conversations will be synchronized.
Step 8: To be safe, confirm that the new device is already listed on the main device's screen.
Step 9: Ready! You can now use the same account WhatsApp on your two cell phones or other devices that you have chosen for this activation.
It is worth remembering that all messages sent by the secondary cell phone will appear on the device connected to the account, but from the second smartphone, you cannot post Status updates or manage broadcast lists. The feature also works for those who want to connect WhatsApp to their tablet but don't want to have just one SIM card.
Step by step on iPhone or iPad
Step 1: It can be said that the process to connect your WhatsApp account that is on an Android to an iOS does not have many secrets. First, open the application in iPhone ou iPad and click agree and continue.
Step 2: and here's the change: on the screen to enter the account number, click on the three dots located in the upper left corner and then click Connect a device. Here:
Step 3: With the QR Code displayed, simply return to the device (Android) with your account connected and click on the settings menu with your photo. Now click connected devices.
The next step just involves you clicking Connect device. You will need to undergo identity confirmation, which is usually a fingerprint scan, iris scan or PIN entry.
Step 4: with the QR Code still displayed on the screen iPhone, now just point the Android camera at it and wait for the connection to be validated.
It's worth waiting a moment for all conversations to be synchronized, and the older the messages, the longer it should take for them to appear on the secondary device. If you start a new conversation on your iPhone, it will also be saved on the device that originally has your account connected.
