O NVIDIA broadcast is a software available for notebooks and PCs using NVIDIA graphics cards (GeForce RTX, Quadro RTX or Titan RTX), which uses artificial intelligence to transform any environment into a recording studio, including your bedroom.
It can improve audio and video of recordings, lives and video calls, with features such as noise reduction, echo reduction, blurred background for video, background application without chroma key, automatic framing by webcam or camera and even image quality improvement. And all this, in real time.
It is not for nothing that it has been called “the darling app of streamers”, because it instantly and simply solves many of the well-known problems of video recordings.
See below how this feature works and learn how to use the software in your daily life:
How to use NVIDIA Broadcast?
O NVIDIA broadcast can be downloaded directly from the company website, for use on Windows 10 or Windows 11 PCs. It requires you to have an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, Quadro RTX 3000, TITAN RTX or higher graphics card.
Other requirements include a minimum of 8GB of RAM and Intel Core i5 8600 or AMD Ryzen R5 2600 (or higher) processors.
NVIDIA Broadcast is not yet available for Macbook or Macbook Air or any other Mac models from Apple.
NVIDIA Broadcast Features
The app is divided into three categories: microphone, speakers e camera. Each of them will give you a variety of functions and settings so you can improve audio or video quality, and even the way you hear what's playing on your PC.
To test, go to each tab and check which microphones, speakers, cameras or webcams are enabled on them. These will be the devices on which the NVIDIA broadcast will make the audio and video improvements.
It is also important to access the “Sound Settings” from Windows by clicking the speaker icon in the lower-right corner of the taskbar or typing the option name in the Windows search box.
In it, make sure that both in the section "Exit" (Speakers) and the section "Tickets", you have selected as devices the NVIDIA Broadcast, as indicated above. This will make the software able to use your microphone and speaker.
Then you must configure each option within the program:
Microphone
With NVIDIA broadcast installed on your PC, the first thing we have when we open it is the microphone configuration. You don't need any special equipment, just use your notebook's own built-in microphone or an external microphone — even those built into the headset.
First, check that the “Microphone Source” is indicating the microphone you want to use for recordings and video calls.
Then select and activate the available effects:
- Noise removal: the app will remove ambient noise, in real time. With this enabled, not even the sound of typing with the keyboard will bother you anymore, as well as noises from buildings, planes, children, vacuum cleaners and so on. The effectiveness is impressive.
- Echo removal: the app will reduce the sound repetition of poorly prepared environments for recordings, such as rooms and rooms with clean walls. The impression is of getting an audio recording made in the studio.
Loudspeakers
O NVIDIA broadcast applies the same treatment given to the microphone of your PC, in audio coming from other people, as in video calls and videoconferences. The result is cleaner sound with no noise or echo, as if your online meeting participant also uses NVIDIA software.
To activate, make sure your main sound output device (speakers) is selected in the option “Audio Outputs”.
Then select and activate the available effects:
- Noise removal: the app will remove the noise from your video call buddy's environment, in real time. With this enabled, not even the sound of typing with the keyboard will bother you anymore, as well as noises from buildings, planes, children, vacuum cleaners and so on.
- Echo removal: the app will reduce the sound repetition of poorly prepared environments for recordings, only now from your interlocutor, such as rooms and rooms with clean walls. The impression is of being able to hear an audio recording made in the studio.
Camera
With the audio already improved, now it's time to improve the video quality. on the tab "Camera" from NVIDIA Broadcast, make sure your webcam or external camera is indicated in the option “Camera Source”. In this item, it is also possible to choose the resolution quality (higher is always better).
Then it's time to choose and activate the available effects:
- Background blur: with this function activated, the app will take care of separating you from the background of the video, blurring everything around you. The effect is the same as seen on cell phones, known as Bokeh Effect or Portrait Mode, and is a great option if your recording environment is not very organized and you prefer to hide it.
- Background Replacement: instead of blurring the background of your footage, you can choose to remove it entirely. When you activate the function, you can choose a replacement image. You can take the opportunity to include your channel logo or even a “virtual office”, with that classy air.
- video noise removal: you know that grainy image, which appears especially on low quality cameras or when recording in a dark environment? By activating the “video noise removal” function, it is possible to improve the video quality, cleaning the image of this grain, in real time.
- automatic framing: This function simulates a camera that tracks the user's face, as if someone is recording you. It's great for adding dynamism to recorded content and ensuring the camera is always prioritizing your face. After activating it, you can still configure the zoom or zoom level of the camera.
NVIDIA Encoder
The signs GeForceRTX also have the NVENC, a specific hardware feature to encode videos, alleviating CPU overhead.
In practice, this makes the system able to run its games and other tasks even with intense use of several applications simultaneously. The result of this is to deliver a high quality live, even with several apps open.
