Whether through photos or videos, the experience of being in a different place from your daily life will be there. But after many saved media it gets a bit difficult find the photos taken at that specific place, Is not it? There's a tool in the Photos app to iPhone, which helps you with that! In this case, you can see the photos on a map, making it easier to find the records made in a certain place. Just take a look!
How does the map work?
A Apple provided a more interactive way to locate and identify photos and videos that were taken in specific places. in the app Photos there is a special tab that opens a map and all the photos that were taken in certain regions are displayed on it. This can be very useful, especially with the ability to zoom in on the map, so you can identify even more specific locations.
Common in some map tools, when opening it, in the lower right corner, there is a button (i) and by clicking on it you can change between three different modes of viewing the map, namely:
- Map: common display with green, white, blue, etc. places, representing the physical spaces they occupy;
- Hybrid: displays the map more faithfully to reality, with houses, streets and the rest via satellite, as things really are. The difference here is for the identification of certain places such as street names, avenues, parks and other things that have proper names;
- Satellite: similar to Hybrid, Satellite mode also displays the map with more fidelity, bringing satellite images, but here there is no display of street names and etc., just the raw map.
All three views have a different way of being seen. As soon as you click on the “i” to change the view, just below Hybrid there is a button, “3D map“. When you click on this button, the map changes to 3D, showing the places in even more detail. To go back to the previous way, just click on 2D map.

zooming in
There is a certain limit to the zoom meeting, but nothing spoils the experience of being able to view the registered media and in which place.
Return to current location
Did you sail to the point of getting lost? Don't worry! There is a simple and quick way to return to your Current location. To do so, select the arrow icon in the lower left corner. When doing this, the device will ask about authorization to access your location, so grant it. When you select this button once, the screen will scroll until it finds your current location, when you click it again it will display which direction you are moving. Try!
Detailed information
Knowing the location on the map can be a little subjective for some users, as there are many records in different but close locations. Thinking of offering a way to check where exactly that media was made, click on the set of photos taken, choose the photo in question, drag it up and when the information appears, scroll down.
At the end of this information, the city and state in which that photo was taken will be registered. Other information is also displayed in this area, such as the date and time of registration, which model the photo was taken from, which camera was responsible for the click and much more. The last option on this screen, “Show in All Photos“, takes you back to the general view of the images, without distinction of location.
outside help

Although all this information is very useful, in principle, it is still possible to access even more detailed data. In this case, we are talking about the application exif metadata, which can be used for various purposes, including checking internal information of the images and their respective locations, such as GPS data.
