You can use it! WhatsApp communities are released in Brazil

Released in most parts of the world in November 2022, who lives in Brazil can now finally use the communities of WhatsApp to concentrate several subjects in one place. The functionality resembles Facebook groups, but has interesting features that facilitate communication with several people at the same time.

According to Estadão, a new tab will be displayed for Brazilians from January 26, 2023, in the same way that the Conversations, Status and Calls sections are separated. Check the details.

What are WhatsApp communities?

This is a way for the green messenger to be able to connect people with the same interests to avoid that high number of groups on subjects related to the same place, company, etc.

Communities can have different focuses and the administrator can do all the control to avoid problems and all subjects are discussed in one place. All features already known in groups and private conversations will also be available in communities.

The great resource of the communities of the WhatsApp is that a person can forward the same message to up to 5 thousand contacts at once, as up to 50 groups can be created in the same community. Who is in a community can also define which people can put them in a community, as well as report abuse and of course, leave if you don't feel comfortable.

Resources for Administrators

All communities in the green messaging application have a group with a megaphone that serves to send alerts to everyone who is part of the virtual location. This is a way to get everyone's attention at the same time, a feature that was often requested by group administrators and it was often necessary to mark each contact for the message to be read.

One more feature is the ability to add, remove people and even delete messages that do not follow the previously established rules. It is important to remember that if you already take care of many groups, it will not be necessary to create a community from scratch: just unify everything that exists for one of the communities of WhatsApp.

It will be possible to include groups that you are not part of in a community, but as you can imagine, it will not be possible to see the messages sent by the members if you are not a member or administrator.

How to use WhatsApp communities?

Released gradually for Brazilians, it is important to have the most up-to-date version of the application to make use of the new functionality. Check out the step by step to create yours.

Step 1: On your application's home screen, click on the menu located in the upper left corner of the three dots. Now just click on New Community. The process is the same for starting a new group or a broadcast list.

You can also do this by clicking on the icon located in the lower left corner and then clicking on new community. Just like starting a conversation with a new contact.

Step 2: now it's time to give your community a name (up to 24 characters) and choose a profile picture.

Step 3: the next screen consists of selecting the groups that will be included in your new community WhatsApp. The maximum amount is 50 and after you finish doing this step, just carry out the control.

If you want to add another group after the community has been created, just go to the settings and mark it to be placed within the community.

O WhatsApp reminds you that everyone who is in a community can join its groups, as well as everyone who is automatically part of the “super-group”, is added and receives messages from the administrators' alert group. A private groups feature is being tested by the messaging app, but there is still no definite release date set. We will update the article when it becomes available.

Launch delay has explanation

Although much of the world welcomed the communities in November 2022, the WhatsApp answered the request of Prosecutor of not making any drastic changes to the messaging app until after the presidential election period was over.
