The Cumbuca application offers a new way of managing accounts via a joint digital account with two or more people, supporting the financial control of couples. Meet the news!

Splitting bills and keeping track of payments made can be a headache for couples, isn't it? Lots of numbers, sums, calculations… and that “who owes what to whom”? Having a good financial organization is essential for couples and having transparent conversations about money is also very important. Today we are going to present a solution for these cases: the app Bowl🇧🇷 With it you can create a kind of digital joint account to manage money and pay bills with one or more people. Let's see how the application works?

the joint account

Despite the app Bowl to function as if it were a digital bank, its main idea is to be an application for sharing balances and expenses — for two or more people — and that is what most differentiates it from the others.

The experience is completely geared towards multiple users. What we often see in the market are people wanting to share the use of common money and using traditional digital accounts for this, but they do not work well because only one of the people involved can have good access to them (due to tokens and everything else). At Cumbuca, on the other hand, you start by inviting people to share the bill with you. there is always a administrator, who “founds” the account, and it is he who invites the other participants to compose the account.

You may have heard of other expense sharing apps, but the Bowl is the first application of its kind created in Brazil🇧🇷 What is super interesting about the format is that all Cumbuca participants have visibility of the balances and what is being paid, generating transparency for everyone involved and, when making a payment, it is possible to use the available balances, combining them. Consider a couple who have to pay a R$200 electricity bill, you can pay this bill by taking R$40 from one and R$160 from the other, for example. If you are not an admin, you can only use your own balance to make payments.

Getting to know the app

Of course, the first step is to install the application, then you can download the Cumbuca application for free on your device. Android ou iOS🇧🇷 Once installed, open it and create an account — also free of charge. In a few steps and with basic information you can create a new account in Cumbuca. We found this step to be a lot quicker than it usually is with other digital account apps.

Right on the main page we see a completely simple and straightforward interface, showing intuitive buttons what each feature brings. There are six main buttons that are on the main screen, namely:

  • add money: allowing in-app deposits via Pix;
  • bill payment: offers payment of bank slips by typing — or copying and pasting — the barcode or by scanning;
  • Payment with Pix: as with other banks, payment via Pix can be made via QR Code, with the specific key and there is also a button to copy and paste a Pix key;
  • Credit Card  Bowl: still in testing period, with a queue, the shared card can also be requested by the application;
  • Consult extract: and the most traditional of resources displays detailed information on the movements that the account has had, such as deposits, transfers, payments, etc. It is especially interesting for the couple's financial organization because it is possible to see which payments were made, by whom (or with what combination of balances) and have access to all payment receipts.

Among other features included is an eye icon that serves to hide the total balance of the wallet — but, unfortunately, it does not apply to the other values seen on the screen —, and a brief report, like a mini statement, which is at the bottom of the screen. displaying some of the movements made in the month.

inviting someone

It wouldn't be a joint account app without someone to share the expenses, right? Still on the main page, in the upper right corner, there is an arrow pointing down that, when selected, displays the option “add new member🇧🇷 On the following screens, you will need to include some basic information about who you want to invite to share the account.

As soon as you complete the form, that person will receive an email with the invitation, link to download the application and everything else. After the other person finishes signing up, just refresh the app Bowl to verify this participation. When you select that down arrow in the top right corner of the main screen, it will now show that there is an admin — the one who created the account — and the other participant's account. Just both deposit in the account to start sharing expenses!

shared payment

The most interesting part of the application will be explained now. Our example will talk about paying a bill. Select “bill payment“, then choose the way you would like to make the payment, and then an option will appear for you to choose which users will be part of the division of that payment.

In our case, two users were chosen to pay a bill of BRL 20, each having deposited BRL 10 in the account. When choosing participants, it is possible to select just one of them or all of them — regardless of the number of participants in the account — and the confirmation screen displays the contribution percentage of each one, as well as the amount used per user.

Also remembering that the movements, such as deposits and payments, are informed to those involved via email. According to the startup responsible for the app, shared payment can take place in several ways, such as splitting half and half — exemplified here –, proportional to the salary and even cases where there is a financial manager and a provider.

And you, what did you think of the proposal? Have you already downloaded Cumbuca? Tell us in the comments!
