A huge hotel that flies under the clouds, with leisure and living areas, a lot of luxury and that looks more like a fusion of a cruise ship and a space station. Seems a bit strange, doesn't it? But this is the concept behind the project sky cruise, recently presented by scientist Hashem-Al Ghaili and designer Tony Holmsten. According to the duo, the luxury flying hotel would have the capacity to transport up to 5 thousand guests and serious piloted by artificial intelligence.
The superplane would be equipped with 20 electric motors, powered by a “small nuclear reactor that uses highly controlled fusion reaction”. That way, the giant aircraft would not need to make landings for refueling, and could stay for years in the skies. The maintenance of the spacecraft, according to the inventors themselves, could also be carried out during the flight, in a system similar to that adopted by ships.
In a video released through the YouTube, the Arab designer behind the project explained that conventional airlines would take passengers to the flying hotel via private jets. Food and supplies would also be delivered in the same way, via an elevator from the sky cruise that would connect to the commercial flight bringing all these items.

The dome would be connected by elevators to the main entertainment deck, which would have swimming pools, gyms, restaurants, sports centers, ballrooms, theaters and even one mall. The floating hotel still has a panoramic lounge with 360 degree view of its surroundings and wide view of the sky, “ideal, even for celebrations such as weddings”. In the aircraft cabin, human pilots will be replaced by artificial intelligence, which in addition to piloting, would also be able to predict air turbulence and other atypical situations that would imply a less smooth flight.
The creators claim that the plane would be designed to minimize the possible impacts that can be felt at altitude. For example, intelligent systems could create anti-vibration devices that work similarly to noise canceling technology (noise canceling), typically available on commercial flight headsets.

According to Hashem, “the desire to create a hotel plane comes from a desire for more comfortable flying experiences. I believe the current air experience has become tiresome and outdated. It's time for new innovations to make our flights more comfortable.”, he says.
And when will we have the flying hotel?
The developers did not disclose how or if the audacious project will get off the ground. Although unlikely, even if that happens, the experience would certainly be aimed at people with high purchasing power, since the cost of keeping such a giant in the air would not be low at all. In any case, the concept demonstrates the potential that aviation still has to create audacious suggestions.
