Meet My Passport SSD, WD's First External SSD

My Passport has the speed of up to 515MB / s. The fast drive is designed for the latest generation of computers with a USB Type-C port and is USB 3.1 generation 2 input ready (10GB/s), with a USB-C to Type-C cable and an adapter for use with more traditional USB-A ports found on computers.

More performance and security

The device is designed for PC, but is also compatible with Mac. O My Passport SSD has hardware encryption, bringing more security to the user, who can activate a password protection.

When it comes to safety, the device has been tested in drops from 1,98 meters high for resistance to 1500G force impacts, to ensure that from small distances, such as from a table or even if it falls out of the bag, it doesn't get destroyed and you lose all your data.

For being one External SSD, My Passport is great formanage large folders of photos and videos, with quick backups of important files and documents. It serves for run virtual machines or expand laptop SSD storage anywhere.

The new unit is available in capacities of 1TB, 512GB and 256GB.

Price and availability

With a three-year warranty, the My Passport SSD can already be found in the United States, through the website bestbuy.com, and will be available in other markets around the world over the next few months at select authorized retailers. The suggested retail price is $USD 399.00 for 1TB, $USD 199.99 for 512GB and $USD 99.99 for 256GB.
