YouTube: New 'Continue Watching' Function Works From Mobile to PC

The YouTube recently been working on new ways to optimize and facilitate access for users, and now we have a new option that makes accessing videos we haven't finished watching simpler and faster.

If you are watching a video on your cell phone through the YouTube app (to iOS e Android) and close or minimize the app before finishing the video, the same video will appear in a small window in the lower right corner of your browser when you access the platform on your PC, under the text of “Keep watching".

How does it work?

When accessing the video in the 'Keep watching', the video will continue playing from the point where it left off in app from the mobile device, also being possible to leave the video in full screen or just continue watching as a smaller window while browsing the site. Certain demos also suggest that the novelty also works if you have paused a video in YouTube TV, the platform's live channel subscription service — not available in Brazil.

Apparently, the function is not accessible if you do it the other way around: the window to continue watching does not appear if you are watching a video on your PC or Mac and turn on the app on your mobile device. We look forward to seeing if this will be possible in the near future.

The functionality is not yet available to all users, as it is a recent update — and it is necessary to remember to do login with the same account on both devices: Smartphone and PC. While the function is not available to everyone, it is still possible to open the platform in your preferred browser and look for the “Keep watching“, where the last videos you watched but didn't finish will be listed in chronological order, and you can continue watching from there, also at the moment where the video was previously stopped.
