How to create a Women's Day message to send on WhatsApp

O Woman's Day, celebrated today (8), is a date for the celebration of women's struggles and achievements and was created from historical events such as the fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist clothing factory and the Russian women's march for bread and peace and made official by the ONU (United Nations) in 1977.

To celebrate her by sharing a women's day message with those you know, you can create a creative virtual card through the app Canva, choosing from a blank template and choosing colors and elements as you wish, or editing a template already available for free on the platform. It is a great option for anyone who wants to wish a happy day to friends, family or acquaintances via WhatsApp, for example, and it is also possible to share it on other social networks.

What is Canva?

Canva is a free graphic design tool for beginners that allows users to create various images for social media, presentations, infographics, posters and other visuals. The tool is available online through the browser and on mobile devices (IOS and Android) and has millions of images, fonts, models and illustrations for free. The platform also offers paid plans, with the availability of more resources and images, elements, videos and collaboration tools.

It is a simple to use tool with very interesting features. To use it, you will need to create an account or log in using Facebook, Google or email. To download the application, which will be what we are going to use in this tutorial, just go to your app store, search for Canva, download and install it. The Android app can be found at Play Store and the app for IOS, on App Store.

Creating a Women's Day message from a template

To create the card from a template, simply open the Canva app, go to the search bar at the top of the main screen, and type “Women's Day”. Tap the magnifying glass symbol to perform the search. Afterwards, different models and sizes of arts will be displayed on the screen. Select the one you like the most and click on it.

A new screen will open, where there are several resources so you can edit the chosen template, such as changing the text and background color, typing new text, inserting images, among others. It is possible to search for elements and photos that you want to include by name, as in the example below, where to find a photo of a woman “woman” was searched and to find an element without a flower background, “flower” was searched. The rest of the changes can be made by going through the application's functions.

Creating a Women's Day Message from Scratch

If you want to create a card without using a template, Canva is also possible, for that click on the button with a “+” and choose the size to be used, here we will use the “Post for Instagram” size, but it is also possible to use “Instagram Story”, “Poster” sizes or a custom size. After that, a new screen will open with a blank square, where we will start to insert our texts and elements.

To choose a background color, click on the square and at the bottom select “color”. A selector will open, where you can browse and choose the desired color. After that, we will insert an element, clicking on “+” and searching for women's day in the search bar. In the selected element it is also possible to change the colors.

After choosing a text, click again on the “+” and select “text”. You can choose between pre-formatted options or unformatted options. Once the choice is made, we modify the text and insert effects through the bottom bar, where it is also possible to modify the color. To adjust the size and position just click on the element and move it and on the ends click and drag to decrease or increase. In this card, a flower element was also inserted, where the color and transparency were changed, also using the lower bar.

How to send the message by WhatsApp?

After editing the card, we will send it to WhatsApp, or to another desired social network, or we can download the image and leave it saved in the cell phone's image gallery. For this we will click on the up arrow, which is in the upper right corner of the application. A new screen will open with options for saving and sharing the image. This step is for both the card made from a template and the card made from scratch.

To just save it on your device and send it later, look for and click on the “download” option, select the format, we recommend jpg, as it is lighter, and click on the purple “Download” button. Wait for processing and the message that the image was successfully saved. Afterwards you can find the image in your gallery.

To send it directly through WhatsApp, on the same screen, just scroll through the options shown on the top line and find the application icon. Clicking on it will open a popup asking which contact or group you want to send to. In this same place it is possible to choose other social networks to send the image, such as Facebook and Instagram.
