Inspirational, Maya and the Warriors Three is one of the best animated series on Netflix released in 2021

Maya and the Warriors Three It's one of the most inspiring stories I've ever had the pleasure of watching. This story is about love, friendship, forgiveness and most of all finding your truth, and it's something the whole family will enjoy. In Jorge R. GutiérrezMaya and the Warriors Three is the new fantastic series from Netflix with a world of wizards, ancient prophecies, mythical creatures and most importantly, a great warrior.

Gutierrez previously directed Party in Heaven in 2014, and this year he joined the same team to create wonderful characters that explore different cultures and mythologies in Mesoamerica. As with his previous project, Gutiérrez sticks to the same themes – doing the right thing, love, death and sacrifice. Your creation of Maya and the Warriors Three and the four kingdoms in the show that rule Mesoamerica is proudly fun and adventurous as you delve into otherworldly realms.

The Plot of Maya and the Warriors Three

In this story, a young woman named Maya (Zoe Saldaña) discovers that the woman she thought was her mother for 15 years is not really her mother, and that she is half-human-half-God. There is a prophecy that talks about warriors facing the God of War, and she discovers that she must be the one to find those warriors and do just that. These nine episodes soar into a wave of action and adventure as she pursues the rest of her destiny.

Maya is a brave, fearless, and sometimes stubborn warrior from the Teak Kingdom. She is the daughter of the King and Queen of Teak (Jorge R. Gutiérrez and Sandra Equihua). Maya loves being a princess, but wants to do battle with her father and siblings, The Jaguar Triplets: Spear, Shield and Dagger (all voiced by Gael García Bernal). She feels left out by this, as her responsibilities are inside the temple, in her home, talking to the other diplomats and keeping the peace within the kingdom.

However, on the day of Maya's coronation and fifteenth birthday, Zatz (voiced by Diego Luna), the handsome Prince of Bats, is sent from the Underworld to bring Maya to Lord Mictlan (voiced by Alfred Molina), the God of War. Maya refuses the War God's commands, as she does not want to be sacrificed. Her decision, however, puts her family and kingdom in jeopardy, and to save them, Maya plans a journey to find the three great warriors in other realms - Luna Island, Jungle Lands and the Golden Mountain - who will help her defeat the underworld gods.

The cultural representation

There are many Mayan legends, myths and mythical creatures that are introduced and told through Maya and the Warriors Three, which makes the story extremely interesting and captivating. Cultural inclusion is there, not only in these stories, but also with the use of the Spanish language sprinkled throughout the episodes. Many children will be thrilled to see themselves in this story, and that is something very important.

Maya and the Three Warriors: The Animated Series You Didn't Know You Needed
Maya and the Three Warriors – animation by Jorge R. Gutiérrez

the world of Maya and the Warriors Three is an incredible exploration of mythical creatures, kingdoms and warriors. Even though the kingdoms are a blend of many cultures in Mesoamerica, there's a lot of heart and personality that's exciting to it — especially the growth of Maya's character and the world around the show. Gutiérrez's animation is fun, visceral, and engaging to watch. It's hard to look away from the screen when Maya and her warriors battle new gods. Weapons and magic leap from the screen, as if the characters are trying to reach the audience.

The biggest development and change for Maya is learning to be honest and lead with dignity. She makes mistakes along the way, pointing out that even the strongest and bravest warriors are flawed. Through her friends, she learns to appreciate them while encouraging them to be better versions of themselves.

The Values Taught in Maya and the Warriors Three

But the best part about Maya and the Warriors Three are all important lessons he teaches children. It shows not only bravery but also humility. When Maya is wrong, she listens to her friends and learns from it. There are also moments of nobility and honor. The Picchu character always talks about how he will always fight for a cause, and maybe one will die for a cause. He says fighting is always the right thing, if for a worthy cause.

The relationship between Queen Teca and Maya is touching and shows a mother and daughter duo, both warriors, who lead with a strong female presence. The Teak Queen's influence on Maya, through her strong diplomatic skills and strength, are the traits that guide Maya's physical and emotional journey.

There is also some deception in this show, but the real lesson here is the forgiveness that is always offered. From friends, family and strangers. Friends love each other like family and will always be there for each other no matter what. The Luna Island Kingdom, the Jungle Kingdom, the Golden Mountain Kingdom and Teak have differences, but they do not judge each other. They embrace strengths and what others have to offer and that's a beautiful lesson.

The God of War is power hungry and this leads him to forget what he valued most in life. Everyone who is willing to face it, even against all odds, is what makes this series such an important watch. It teaches children to always stand up for what is right, no matter what. There are shades of trust, love, family, friendship, sacrifice and forgiveness. They all come together during some pretty epic fights, making Maya and the Warriors Three one of the most fun and inspiring jobs of the year.

The only thing I would like to point out is that Maya and the Warriors Three it can be a little scary for kids, as there are some massive battles with the gods that, while fun to watch, are a little intense and dark at times. There is also death, so this is certainly something to consider when deciding whether your child will be able to handle it.

Maya and the Warriors Three is an action-packed adventure series. With only 9 episodes, this series can be completed quickly, but I encourage you to dedicate your time to it. Go on this journey with Maya as she recruits warriors who will become friends and then family – and enjoy the incredibly stunning visuals along the way.
