Night Mode on WhatsApp
The vast majority of apps currently have their “dark” version and your eyes will thank you when using these apps in the dark, after all, excess blue light, especially in the dark, can greatly harm your vision.
The night mode on WhatsApp arrived in early 2020 and is currently activated automatically if you are using an iPhone with iOS 13 or higher, and in the case of Androids, the same thing happens if your version is from Android 10 or higher. In other cases, the function needs to be activated manually, but that doesn't mean it's difficult. To do this, we will follow a few steps.
Step 1: Enter WhatsApp settings and then click on conversations;
Step 2: In the “conversations” tab, click on “theme”;
Step 3: And then choose between “light”, “dark” or “automatic” where the theme will work according to your device system. Once this is done, just give “ok”;
Change WhatsApp wallpaper
It's always nice when we can customize our stuff our way. Be it the home screen of the PC or Smartphone, or leave your social network with your face. In the case of WhatsApp it is no different and we have the option to change the wallpaper. Although the default background is already cute and a lot of people don't care about it, it's good to have the option for you who like something personalized. Let's go to the procedures:
Step 1: As with the night mode option, go to settings and then “conversations”;
Step 2: Now click on “Wallpaper”;
Step 3: Click on “change”; some options will appear. If your intention is to use images you have downloaded, click on “my photos”. If not, choose between “light”, “dark” or “solid colors”;
Step 4: Finally adjust the image as you see fit and then click “set”.
It is important to warn that if you are using the “light” or “dark” theme instead of the automatic one, when you change the wallpaper, it will only change to the theme in question, being necessary to manually change each one of them.
Send animated images to your contacts
Another interesting feature of WhatsApp is to send GIFs, small animated images, for your contacts. So, better convey your reactions, quickly and fun to your contacts and to do this, it's very simple! Check the steps with us.
First, click on the emoji icon of your conversation, there, you can see that at the bottom there are several button options for you to interact with, one of them being the GIFs.

Then, if no animated image has attracted your attention, you can click on the magnifying glass icon on the side to search for the desired topic. Once you find one you like, just click to forward to the conversation.

Finally, it is also possible to send GIFs that are already saved in your cell phone gallery. Just access it and when browsing the folders, you will be able to see that some images have a mark that indicates that it is an animated photo.
The iPhone has some differences when forwarding the images, but in Showmetech we have a special tutorial for him.
Create custom links with your phone number
If you work in business or just want a simpler way to send your contact number to the people around you, WhatsApp allows users to create small links which, when clicked, takes the person directly to the conversation in question. Simply use this format: https://wa.me/
If you understand how urls works, you can also add text ready to receive once people click on your wa.me link by adding the ?text= command to the link, which would make it something like “https://wa.me/ 55XXXXXXXXXXXtext=message”.
However, to make your life easier on this issue, there are some sites that you just need to fill in with your information and it will return with the link fully configured for you, in this case, the wa.link it's a great tool.
Invite your friends to a voice or video call via links
Another interesting function, related to WhatsApp links, is that it is also possible to create call invitations, allowing anyone who is registered on the platform to join the call without any problems.
Each generated address is unique, to ensure that no one can break into the conversation you just set up and also protected by encryption.
In this way, to generate your call invitation links, just access the corresponding tab in your application and then the “Create call link” option. Then just share it with your contacts or even send it elsewhere.

Archive your conversations to keep your chat organized
Anyone who is used to having a conversation with several different contacts at the same time, or participating in several groups, knows how easy it is to get lost in the middle of so many options and leave something important to be forgotten. However, for this, WhatsApp created the possibility to archive some conversations, which helps to better organize your contact list.
It is important to inform you that, after archived, the conversations will remain in that state until you remove them from the archives tab, then you will not receive notifications or similar. In group chats, you will only be notified if you are mentioned or someone directly replies to a message sent to you.
To archive a conversation of your choice, select it with a click and, from the options that will appear at the top of the screen, click on the corresponding icon.

If you want to return an archived conversation to your default WhatsApp chat, it's also simple, just follow these steps in reverse. The archived conversations tab sits on top of all other chats, so once you click on it, you'll have access to the people and groups you've saved.

Finally, just carry out the same process of selecting the chat in question and clicking on the archive conversation icon, which now contains an upward arrow and that's it, it will be back on your WhatsApp home screen!

Use different types of text in conversations
Although the vast majority of people use WhatsApp only for quick conversations (which last for hours) or to fill your smartphone with images and videos of good morning and puppies (those are welcome), you can, through some specific commands, leave the personalized text as if writing in Google Docs or Microsoft Word, for example.
These customizations include text in boldOn italic and also texts scratched. Each of them can be activated whenever you want, in the text you want as long as you put the messages inside the specific commands. See the example below:
For bold text, just put a asterisk (*) in each corner of the text. For italics, do the same, but with a _ (underscore) and finally to leave the text crossed out, just put the accent ~ (tilde) also in each corner of the text that you want to be crossed out.
Delete your sent messages
If you've ever mistyped a text or forwarded the wrong message to someone, then these WhatsApp tips are perfect for you! Because the application allows the user, now, delete the content you sent, up to two days after it was done, according to the official website. To do so, just follow these steps below.
First, select the message you want to delete. You can do this by pressing your finger against it and holding it for a few seconds, then clicking on the trash can icon that will appear at the top.

Then, a new menu will open with options. From there, you can either delete the message just for yourself or for everyone involved in the conversation.

Another interesting tip for those who are used to managing groups is that these same steps can be taken to delete messages sent by other participants. Just follow the same steps, but instead of selecting your own content, select that of the person you want to delete.
Customize message alert for different conversations
If you have an important person or group on WhatsApp and you would like to know when they send you messages just by the sound of the notification, this is one of the WhatsApp tips and tricks that will surely help you in this mission. Unlike other WhatsApp tips and tricks, in this case you will need to go directly to the person you want to customize the message alert.
Step 1: First you will need to open the conversation normally as you always do, either directly with the person or in a group;
Step 2: Then just tap the name of the person or group to get more details;
Step 3: On this screen where we will have the photo and other information, click on “personalized notifications”;
Step 3.1: Activate the box “Use custom notifications” and that's it, you can choose the desired file to be the notification of that person or group;
Note that by activating custom notifications, you will also be able to configure the ringtone, vibration and even the LED color if your smartphone has this.
Pin conversations on WhatsApp
The conversation pin feature is very useful for you who have someone or that super important group that always needs to be first in conversations. When you pin a conversation on WhatsApp, regardless of how many people or groups you interact with, that conversation will always be at the top of the list.
Unlike the other WhatsApp tips and tricks we've seen so far, to pin a conversation we don't need to access the settings, let alone several steps. Here you will only need to tap and hold on the conversation or group you want and then tap on the pin icon. Okay, this conversation is fixed and will always be highlighted.
Disable read receipt
You are not always available to respond to messages, but there is always that little slip of opening the message. So you don't get that bad feeling that you've given the person on the other side of the screen a huge vacuum, why not disable read receipts?
This feature is primarily a matter of privacy and a two-way street, as once you disable the read receipt option for you, any conversation you have, regardless of whether the person in question has this feature enabled or not , you will not be able to verify that the person has read the message. Whatever the reason you have for turning off read receipts, know that it's not too difficult and just a few steps.
let's get in settings, account and finally em privacy. On this screen we will have several settings related to your privacy and among them we will have the option to read confirmation. Click on the button on the right that will be “active” in green to deactivate and that's it, your messages will no longer send the read confirmation.
Check out how to make polls on WhatsApp
A tool added not long ago to WhatsApp is the possibility for users to take polls and thus find out what each member's opinion is on certain subjects. Currently, with this option, you can enter up to 12 possible votes and users can choose from multiple options.
To create a poll in your group and discuss it with friends, then just select the polls icon in WhatsApp options.

After that, just type what the question will be and give the possibility of answering to the other members of the group. The possibilities are endless and you can ask them about everything, who was the best player in the World Cup, what was their favorite game of the year or even their favorite food!

Learn how to send self-erasing photos and videos on WhatsApp
Last week WhatsApp was updated and officially received the existing feature in Instagram direct messages, for example, it has now also become a feature of WhatsApp. But then you ask yourself “What are 'unique views'?” and in short, it's a feature where you send photos or videos and when the person sees the same, it disappears.
Here I will make a brief tutorial on how to use the feature. First you need to have the latest version of WhatsApp installed. Once this is done, when choosing your photos and videos as you always did, you will see that the screen for sending them will have a new symbol — with a “1” inside — next to the bar where you type something about the image or video. By clicking on this icon you will be activating the option of “unique views".
After uploading media with the new feature, that “1” symbol will appear again, but now on the chat screen. As soon as the person sees the photo or video, the icon will change the text to “open message”. Once viewed, it will no longer be possible to view unless the person resubmits and uses the feature again.
It is important to warn that using the “unique views” you “get rid” of unnecessary media on your device, but it does not guarantee the security issue as much, since graphic works (screenshots) can still be taken and until then, we don't have a notice for when someone takes them. You can check out all the details about the new “single views” feature in our full article on the subject.
Save space by activating the auto delete messages function in WhatsApp
Depending on what category you fall into as a WhatsApp user, the app can weigh heavily on your device's storage. For this reason WhatsApp now has a feature called “temporary messages”. With it, your messages, whether in groups or private conversations, can be configured to receive a “clean” every 7 days.
Although very useful, it is important to note that in the case of media such as photos and videos, they are deleted from your WhatsApp, but not from your device. Anyway, activating the “temporary messages” is quite simple.
First you need to open a WhatsApp conversation. Then tap the name of the contact or group. Once the menu loads, find the “temporary messages” option and tap on it;
Finally, on the screen that will appear, under "temporary messages", tap "activated" and that's it, the conversation of that group or contact will delete messages every 7 days. Note that once you activate the function, the conversation will have a clock icon next to the photo.
Did you know that it is possible to edit an image before sending it on WhatsApp?
Despite not containing a tool as complex and professional as other applications for image editing, WhatsApp has some tools that allow you to modify the photo before it is sent. It can be one from your gallery or even taken on the fly, to then crop, rotate, add stickers, filters, text, draw and even other options.

Block or report unwanted contacts
Another important security tip for WhatsApp is the possibility of block or report unwanted contactss. If you opt for the first option, you will no longer receive messages, calls or even status updates from him until you choose to remove him from this list.
To do this, open the conversation with the user in question and after clicking on the three dots in the chat, go to the “more” option and then choose the block option. Remembering that it is impossible to do this method with WhatsApp groups, in this situation, the recommended thing is to just leave it.

Then a new options menu will appear. There, you can change your mind and cancel the block or also take the opportunity to report it, with the block. Choose the best option and rest assured!

Transfer files from phone to computer with WhatsApp Web
One of the most useful and interesting WhatsApp tips and tricks is the fact that it is possible to transfer your files from your cell phone to your computer through the platform. This proves to be very useful when you don't have access to any USB cables or other means of send files from one device to another.
To begin with, this process must be done on the cell phone, at first. After clicking on the paperclip that serves to attach files in the conversation, a series of options will appear, choose the one that is consistent with what you want to send to your computer between photos, videos and audios.

After that, the file will be forwarded to the desired conversation and you can download it to your computer, after clicking on it. A simple and easy step, which helps a lot for times of need!
Set who sees your profile picture, status, “last seen” and online
Still on the issue of privacy, you can define who can see the things you post in WhatsApp status and even decide if they can see your profile picture, message and the last time you were online. If you discovered the function to disable read receipts for that text and you were curious enough, you ended up fiddling with these settings while reading the text.

Anyway, if this is not your case, the process is very simple and all we will need to do is repeat the steps of the previous tip. When you get to the “privacy", however, instead of enabling or disabling read receipts, we will pay attention to the first three options and they are: last seen, profile picture, message e professional status. By tapping on each of these options you will be able to define who will be able to see them.
Block your WhatsApp with biometrics
Whether it's just for security reasons or just to maintain your privacy, having the option of a password in a chat app makes a lot of sense and is perhaps the best thing to do. Again we will enter the tab of privacy, but now we will go to the end of the page where we will have the option “Fingerprint lock”.
To activate the option, just tap it and activate the button on the right and it will be grey. When you tap on it, the app will ask for a confirmation of your fingerprint and after confirming it, your WhatsApp will already be locked through the fingerprint. It is important to note that the only function that will not require your fingerprint is when you receive a call. You can also set how long the app will automatically block and whether your messages will appear in notifications or not.
Enable two-step verification
It's always good keep safe up to date on your apps and accounts, and that's why we have XNUMX-Step Verification. With it, you will create a pin (also known as a password with numbers) and an email where if someone tries to access your account or make a scam, for example, they will have to confirm that pin. Turning on two-step verification is quite simple. enter the settings from WhatsApp and then go to account. Then click on “two-step confirmation”.
Note that when activating the function for the first time, it will be necessary to enter and confirm the pin and register an email for security reasons, in case you forget the pin. And please, put an email that you have access to, because if there is a problem with your account and you can't use the pin, it will be your only way to protect it.
Show your location in real time
This function is very useful in cases where you are not sure of the name of the street or neighborhood where you are, for example, and someone wants to come to you. Or when you take an Uber and for safety reasons you want to send your real-time location to your mom, dad or anyone else you trust.
Whatever the reason, the feature of sending location is little used and deserves more attention. It's important that you follow each of the steps here carefully so you don't end up just sending your current location once. The purpose of this function is to keep the contact always updated with your location based on the cell's GPS.
Step 1: Open a conversation with whoever wants to share the location in real time and then click on “location” in the attachment menu next to the camera (the one with a pin icon);
Step 2: then tap real-time location and then set the time you would like to share that location with the person.
And that's it, you'll have shared your location in real time with the person in question. You can do this for up to 8 hours in one shot if you feel it is necessary for some reason. Obviously this will use background data from your smartphone and also the GPS.
Back up your conversations
One of the worst things that can happen is losing files, especially when they are of critical importance, such as photos and academic or service documents. Fortunately, today we have many backup systems and WhatsApp is no exception. Backing up your conversations, however, is one of the few WhatsApp tips and tricks that we will have here where you need to be very aware of the system you are using.
If you're on an Android, for example, you'll have your backup saved to your Google account, in Drive. For unknown and very annoying reasons, if you are migrating from Android to iOS, this backup will be useless since for WhatsApp backups on iOS you need them saved in iCloud. It's something that doesn't make any sense, since we have people migrating from one system to another all the time, but that's the reality. Despite this setback, the path is the same on both systems, the only difference being where it will be saved and where you will pull the backup when necessary.
Again we will return to the WhatsApp settings in the tab conversations. However, we will now go to the bottom of the page where the option “backup conversations” will be. At the top there will be information about the last backup made and a button to back up at that moment. Already in Google Drive Settings you will be able to register your Google account, define when the backups will be made, if they will be made only by Wi-Fi and if videos will be included or not.
Learn to favorite conversations
Here you will learn how to “start” a conversation and well… The pun doesn't work very well in Portuguese, but that's literally it. With the function of putting a star in the conversations, you will be favoring it, being possible to find it quickly and practically.
To do this you need to be inside any conversation, be it private or in a group. After that click and hold on the messages you would like to favorite until it turns green and checked. Without any secrets, click on the star that will appear at the top of the menu and all marked messages will be favorited. To access them, all you have to do is tap on the three-dot menu on the home screen and then on “favorite messages”. See how it looks:
Reply to a specific message in a conversation
In many conversations, especially in groups, texts can get a little lost due to too much text at once and with this feature of replying directly to a specific message, you can target exactly who or what your message goes to.
You probably already use this feature, but if not, it's another one of those WhatsApp tips and tricks that are super easy to use and best of all, you don't need to activate or install anything. Just learn how to use it. And how do you do it? Good you swipe right above the message you want to reply to. On Android devices, you can also tap and hold a message and then tap the left arrow at the top.
Create group invites with link or QR Code
Interested in inviting certain people to join the WhatsApp group, but you can't insert them because there are too many or other difficulties? There are no more problems, because now WhatsApp allows the user generates links or even a QR code, to make life easier when adding people, without the need to have their contact added on your phone.
To do this, simply access the group's information by clicking on its name, with the conversation already open, and then clicking on the "Invite Via Link" field.

Then some options will appear. Through them, it will be possible to copy the link to the clipboard, share it with other people or even generate the QR Code, choose the best possible option. If you need to change the invitation to the group, there is also the option to reset it.

Send a message to multiple contacts
Being able to send a message to multiple contacts is something very simple and very useful for disclosure or even when you need to send that family photo to everyone without having to create a group for it. The feature is called “broadcast list” and is very simple to use.
In the case of iOS, all you need to do is find “streaming lists” at the top of the chat screen and tap on it. Then click on “new list” at the bottom and finally add the recipients you would like to send the messages to. On Android devices, you need to be in the “conversations” tab, so click on the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and finally tap on “new broadcast”. The rest of the procedure is the same on both systems.
Discover and use Whatsapp Pay
And our last tip is the WhatsApp payments function. Yes, WhatsApp can now be used to pay people and that might be simpler than you might think. For this you will need to follow some very simple but very important steps, since now we're talking about money (now we are talking about money). To access the WhatsApp Pay function, you can tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of the WhatsApp chat menu and tap “payments”. Now we will follow some steps:
Step 1: Click on “Facebook Pay”; After continuing, agree to the terms and tap “continue” again
Step 2: Register a security pin for WhatsApp Pay and then register your data such as name, CPF and address
Step 3: enter your debit, credit or prepaid card details, confirm the details and tap save.
Okay, the WhatsApp Pay will be active on your device and you will be able to pay people through the most popular messenger in the country. However, you need to know how to make the payments and this is also very simple. First open a conversation with who you want to pay as if you were going to talk to that person. Then tap the button append (pin symbol) and choose Payments.
On this screen you choose the amount you want to send, you have the option to put a message as a reference of what the payment is and that's it. when touching pay will be required the security pin or else yours fingerprint as a form of security.
