From the Sinister version to the Zombie version, we tell you all about the Stephen Strange variants that appear in the Multiverse of Madness trailers

Variants of Stephen Strange, and all performed by Benedict Cumberbatch! The meme is real! The concept of Multiverse and variants was officially presented in Loki, and one of the greatest achievements of Spider-Man No Return Home was to present various versions of Peter Parker played by Tom Holland. But what didn't happen No way home, will happen here in Madness Multiverse, with several versions of the title character played by the same actor.

The truth is that my hyping all with Doctor Tin in the Multiverse of Madness it's completely and totally to see Wanda Maximoff putting terror across the multiverse. However, the truth is that the new film from Marvel is filled with many important things and, among them, what has been revealed in the trailers released so far are the Stephen Strange's Variants.

Multiverse in the MCU

Now that the Multiverse has really been made official in the MCU, Marvel has been gradually bringing the concept to the public, featuring some punctual moments in What If...? and showing another possibility of variants in No Return Home, but it is here in Madness Multiverse that we will see the Multiverse in its purest form and the various versions of our heroes' journey.

It won't just be Strange that will have variants, Scarlet Witch will also have her own versions and we will possibly see many more of various heroes.

Today, we are going to talk about the 4 variants of Strange confirmed so far. We will only know if there will be others when the film finally premieres on May 5, but in today's text, we will tell you everything we know about the ones presented. Come with us!

Sinister Stranger

When the Doctor Strange 2 first trailer was released we all thought the first variant of Strange was the Ultimate we know in What If...? in episode 4. However, it turns out, it's not quite that. This first variant to appear has actually been credited as Sinister Strange (Sinister Stranger, in the literal translation). That would be an evil version of the character we know.

We still don't know exactly how Sam Raimi will work with these variants, or if he will present his stories, but while the Multiverse is new to theaters, in the comics this has been in the works for years, in which there have already been very evil versions of Doctor Strange.

One of these evil versions is the “Dark Doctor Strange” featured in the comics What If...? #18, published in 1977. In that version, the story was titled “What if Dr. Strange that he had been a disciple of Dormammu?” And the answer to that question is that he would have been bad. Very bad.

In this reality, Baron Mordo uses dark magic to heal Strange's hands. He then becomes Mordo's student and, in old-fashioned evil apprentice fashion, he kills Mordo, becoming Dormammu's new number one guy.

Another evil version of the character, and perhaps one of the cruelest, was portrayed in the comics referring to the Earth-10011. In this reality called cancerverse (yes, that's the name) Life has totally defeated Death. Eternal life drew its power from entities known as "The Many Angles".

In this universe, all beings have been corrupted, but none more so than Doctor Strange. He did his master's orders without question and tried to conquer the 616 main reality after they consumed his. Fortunately, Thanos destroyed it. In the end, the Mad Titan facilitated the side of our superheroes.

It would be very interesting if Raimi worked on any of these stories for this Sinister variant of Doctor Strange.

Strange Defender

In the comics, the Strange Defender is a member of a group of superheroes called the Defenders. Yes, we already have a group at Marvel with that name, and with the return of characters like Daredevil and the Kingpin inserted into the MCU (or can we now say it's MCM?), we may have new additions or who knows a new one. group version.

In the comics, the group originated when Doctor Strange manipulated Namor and teamed up with Hulk to help him defeat a group of demons. Originally, the team consisted of Strange, Hulk, and Prince Namor, but eventually the Silver Surfer, Valkyrie, Hawkeye, Luke Cage, the Red Guardian, and other Marvel characters joined the team to fight one-on-one battles, coming and going depending on which ones. skills were needed. In the comics, the Strange Defender is a "same version" of Doctor Strange that we know in the MCU, but who is part of the Defenders Team.

The Sorcerer Supreme

This variant of Doctor Strange was presented to us in What If...? in episode 4. In the episode titled “What if Doctor Strange lost his heart instead of his hands” shows how Strange gets lost in his way by failing to change the absolute point of death of his beloved Christine Palmer.

To be able to reverse the event nexus, he ends up studying and absorbing the power of mystical creatures, becoming a dark version, but much more powerful than his "normal" version, and in the end ends up destroying his universe. in the last episode of What If...? the Supreme eventually redeems himself by making a deal with the Watcher and becomes the guardian of the stone that keeps Kilmonger and Infinite Ultron imprisoned.

in the trailers of Madness Multiverse, at first many believed that the Supreme was the first variant, the Sinister, but it seems that it is not quite that. What we assume is that the Supreme shown in the scene where we see his version statue could be another variant of Doctor Strange.

Doctor Strange zombie version

on episode 5 of What If...? we got the first glimpse of what would happen if the Marvel universe ended up being transformed by a virus coming from the quantum world that turned everyone into zombies, in addition to the confirmation that we will have an animated series about the zombie world at Marvel.

And not just in animation, we'll also see a zombie version among the Sthepen Strange variants in Multiverse of Madness. Not just him, but a glimpse into the character of Elizabeth Olsen.

In the comics, Marvel has an entire arc involving its characters in a zombie world, in EARTH-2149, and in it Doctor Strange was one of the last to succumb to the disease. like a zombie, he is part of the all-out assault on Doctor Doom's castle, and later bonds with the zombie Kingpin, using his magic to allow the villain to perceive other universes.
