The fourth season of Westworld was an interesting point in the series' trajectory, as evidenced by the final episode, What will be, will be. The show's year has changed the narrative structure a lot, while keeping alive that good feeling caused by the show's mysteries and labyrinthine situations - and now, with its completion, curiously sets the stage for a fifth season at the expense of resolving the various loose ends. seen in recent weeks. What will be, will be

What will be, will be had no big surprises compared to previous episodes, starting with Caleb, Frankie e Stubbs fleeing the post-apocalyptic violence started in the last chapter and looking for places to tend to the wounds of Stubbs.
The situation gets tense, however, when they are in a pharmacy and Clementine appears, delivering the final blow to Stubbs who dies in the arms of his companions. Caleb e Frankie can win Clementine, but in the process the host body of Caleb begins to unravel, leading to one of the first and most touching moments of the episode: his farewell to Frankie – considering the focus that Caleb had throughout the season, and as Aaron Paul seemed more comfortable in the role this season, the character's ending was strong, and a highlight of the episode.

On another front, we had the conclusion of the story of Christina/Dolores, another strong moment with the revelation that the world she can design would be quite separate from that of the story – she was practically together with several ghosts invisible to the others. O twist that Teddy it was also his creation could have worked better if the concept hadn't been repeated almost to exhaustion since the fifth episode of the season, but that didn't change the load of the scenes where the two were together and sharing the pain of the moments, which also contributed to the emotional charge of the finale.
By the way, the revelation of the virtual world of Christina be through the scenes of charlotte hale it was something… unexpected, and that's maybe one of the points where I'm still in doubt about what I really think about the episode. What will be, will be. with the instructions of Bernard, Charlotte seems to have almost taken on a heroine role, which is, frankly, bizarre.

See, throughout the season, including as commented here on showmetech in previous reviews, Westworld seemed to be trying hard to leave Hale as a classic villain, the kind that only needs to let out an evil laugh. In What will be, will be, the character now appears to be on the right side of the conflict with William, trying his best to prevent you from deactivating the Gorgeous.
After William have been defeated, Tail sacrifices itself and puts the control unit Christina/Dolores in the Sublime, causing an intense scene in which the Dolores original wakes up inside the Gorgeous and, analyzing all the events of the season, decides to give a second chance to intelligent life - and starts this process, you see, creating the first park, from the initial season of Westworld, inside Sublime, closing the year of the series in one of those contemplative moments that she is so famous for having.
When does season five arrive?
With the season ending on a major cliffhanger, it's obvious the show's intention to continue - something the producers have already confirmed they're keen on, with a possible fifth season being the last, but are still awaiting the green light from the show. HBO to start work.
At the same time, it is interesting to see how Westworld will be in a possible fifth season, as medallions like William, Charlotte Hale and Caleb are dead, and many of the characters that have survived aren't considered the best in the series.
However, we are talking about a series that, during all seasons, killed characters in abundance, and even so, always found a way for them to return, whether through artificial intelligences, host bodies, flashbacks in the past or any other kind of madness that justifies their permanence in the narrative - so it's not wrong to think that the same happens here.
At the same time, the surviving humans appear to be far removed from the park in the Gorgeous, with the integration between both narrative lines being a real challenge – but at this point, I'm speculating that an eventual fifth season will start with everything already underway and we'll learn how the situation played out in flashbacks and explanations throughout the episodes.
Anyway, regardless of the future, the fact is that the fourth season of Westworld it was a strong return to form for the series, which seemed to have lost its way from the middle of the second year onwards. Whether or not we'll get a conclusion in the format of a fifth season, only time will tell — but what we have for now on the series turns out to be satisfying, if not conclusive.
