Despite representing 51% of the Brazilian population, women have little representation in Brazilian audiovisual – in the world too. According to research carried out by the National Film Agency – ANCINE, 2016, the participation of women in the functions of direction and photography is small and that of black women is even smaller.
Therefore, exalting works made by women is a way of bringing to view the great work they do. Inspired by the selection made by students from the Cinestesia Center at ESPM and by the cinema and audiovisual teacher, hadija sloop, we separate this list with 26 films directed by women to watch in the comfort of your own home and from several different platforms.
