A Mozilla launched yesterday (11) the Firefox 40 for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android. The browser now includes official support for Windows 10, added new ways to protect against unwanted software downloads and new smartphone navigation gestures.
The user interface in desktop with now gives more space for viewing pages. In addition, the colors were changed and the design was thought to facilitate use in touch screens. The button to close tabs and the address bar are bigger, optimizing usability for touch screens.
To protect yourself from possible malwares, Firefox is using the service Google Safe Browsing, which identifies potential dangerous downloads and warns the user about problems to continue on the page. The function was already available on desktops and has now been added to Android.
Not yet Android, the browser gained support for the Android Presentation API, which allows screencasting and JPEG images are using less memory when resized. Also, pressing and holding on the back or forward button in the navigation options shows the history list.
O Firefox 40 is now available for download at Mozilla page. Who already has the browser installed, the update should occur automatically. On Android, the update is being released little by little on Play Store.
