A 98th Academy CeremonyThe event, which took place yesterday at the Dolby Theatre, featured some expected awards, but also some interesting surprises along the way.

Among the big winners at the 2026 Oscars, the highlight of the night was... One Battle After AnotherDirected by Paul Thomas Anderson, who took home six statuettes, including the one for Best movieThe night was also favorable for productions such as Sinners, which earned the prize of Best Actor: Michael B. Jordan, and Frankenstein, from Guillermo del Toro, which was widely celebrated in technical categories. Furthermore, the edition made history with a very rare tie in the category of Best Live-Action Short Film, dividing the prize between The Singers e Two People Exchanging Saliva.

On the other hand, the festive atmosphere gave way to a hint of frustration for those who were awaiting recognition of The Secret AgentDespite the great support, the film directed by Kleber Mendonça Son, failed to win any of the four nominations, which were: Best movie, Best International Film, Best Casting e Best Actor all with Wagner Moura.

Despite this, the ceremony delivered moving tributes to the artists who passed away and featured powerful speeches, most notably the one by... Jessie Buckleywho won the Oscar 2026 for Best Actress by Hamnet and for the director of photography Autumn Cheyenne Durald Arkapaw, of the movie Sinners, who became the first woman in history to win the category.
