You can't escape the truth: Mad Max is one of the greatest science fiction and adventure sagas, having marked an epoch over the years. His latest film received a score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and is part of the list of the best productions of the last 25 years. Now, with the announcement of a new plot within this universe, expectations seem to increase every day.
In the midst of a post-apocalyptic scenario, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga appears as the new promise to become a cinematic epic. The film offers an electrifying narrative that not only maintains the tradition of the entire saga, but also suggests surpassing everything that the most demanding viewers are expecting. With that in mind, we created an article with everything you need to know to enter the universe or return to it and get an idea of what to expect from yet another great film in the director's saga. George Miller.
Remember Mad Max: Fury Road
Do you remember the last movie? To understand exactly the plot of Furious , despite being a prelude, it may be necessary to remember its introduction to the universe.
In a barren and merciless desert where every society has collapsed due to scarcity of resources, Mad Max: Fury Road has the protagonist Max rockatansky, lone survivor and haunted by his past, captured by a group of warriors led by the tyrant immortal joe. In the midst of all this, we are introduced to Furious , an Empress who rebels against Joe by stealing his war vehicle that was transporting his captive wives. This is where it's worth really understanding who the character is.
Born in a fertile land called Green Place, Furiosa belongs to the group Vuvalini the Many Mothers and, after being taken to citadel, was given into the hands of Immortan Joe in order to become one of his wives. The big issue is that although he tried to procreate with her, Furiosa was sterile and that is why at the time, the character was handed over to one of the villain's Emperors. It was in this way that she learned the art of war and, later, began to command the War Rigs — the famous vehicles. When her mentor was killed, she assumed the position, achieved the title of Empress and then became the featured warrior.
From this, the film portrays a chase through the desert with Max and Furiosa joining forces to escape the villain's army and seek refuge in the old place where he was born. However, when they get there, they discover that the place has been destroyed. It is only during the final battle that the villain dies and the tyranny ends, with the wives being freed once and for all. At the end, Max sets off alone on another journey through the desert, while Furiosa chooses to remain in the Citadel to lead and begin reforms there.
Synopsis of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
According to the official synopsis, we will see Furiosa in her youth. Amidst the chaos of a collapsing world, she is ripped from Green Place of Many Mothers and captured by a horde of bikers led by Dementus. During the journey, they come across the well-known citadel, dominated by immortal joe. It turns out that Dementus is also a tyrant, which will leave him and the main villain in a battle for ultimate control. In the midst of this, Furiosa faces a series of challenges and trials to find her way back home, fighting for her survival in a world full of dangers.
According to the trailer and information from the director himself in the latest edition of CCXP extension, the first information we can have is that 45 years have passed since the collapse. Although the desert remains the film's main setting, it is hinted at the existence of buildings and industrial complexes that were not seen in the previous film. Furthermore, Furiosa is not yet Empress and, most likely, we will only see her in this plot as a warrior on the rise. In the words of the actress-protagonist Anya Taylor-Joy, "we know Furiosa as a young girl who was stolen from her mother".
Furthermore, something worth highlighting is the lack of Max in the film, however, George Miller made a point of answering that. According to him, the plot is basically an odyssey of Furious and, although the great protagonist of the entire saga does not appear to be present, “he will still be on the margins of history”. Without further details, this is a matter that we can only be completely sure of after watching the film. Will we somehow see Max in a scene?
[In] Fury Road, the story unfolds over three days and two nights. This film follows the story that goes directly to Fury Road, for 15 years. It's a different animal. It has many different locations. It's an odyssey. Undoubtedly.

Characters
The cast has practically all been announced, however, some characters have not yet been announced. The actor Tom burke, for example, is already confirmed, but nothing is known about what to expect from his participation in the production. Furthermore, check out the main ones below:
Furious
Furious (Anya Taylor-Joy) is the protagonist who finds herself forced to serve a powerful warlord after being captured in a post-apocalyptic world. The actress, despite being a relatively new figure in the entertainment industry, has already made her mark with performances in films such as The witch, Emma, the trilogy Fragmentado, Super Mario Bros. and, mainly, the series The Queen's Gambit — production of Netflix where it gained greater visibility. Recently, she also surprised with a participation in Dune: Part 2.
However, when we talk about Mad Max, something to consider is your lineup, as it was expected Charlize Theron as Furiosa (following the film Mad Max: Fury Road). But as reported by the website CBR, George Miller justified his decision on technical reasons. As this is a prequel, the character would have to be younger and, consequently, the actress. One possibility would be to resort to rejuvenation technology, however, this was not the director's desire.
Dementus

Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) is one of the film's antagonists. The actor, known primarily for his portrayal of the iconic Thor in the movies of MCU, also stood out and was acclaimed in productions such as Snow White and the hunter, Rush, In the Heart of the Sea, MIB: Men in Black International and the two movies Rescue.
In a statement to Variety, he described his character as “a complex, violent and insane individual, born from the desert that is the setting of the saga Mad Max“. Dementus is the leader of a horde of bikers, whose brutal actions reflect much of the merciless environment in which he was raised. Basically, the villain will become a challenger to Furiosa and others who cross his path.
immortal joe

immortal joe (Lachy Hulme) is the big villain introduced in the previous film, but now we may have the chance to see how the relationship between him and the protagonist was created. The actor is most recognized in Australia, his country of origin, for roles such as in the series Offspring, for example. However, he also had visibility in Hollywood with Matrix Revolutions and has worked with George Miller em Three Thousand Years of Longevity.
Something curious to highlight is that, in fact, Hulme was initially cast to play one of the character's companions Dementus. However, it was he who persuaded the director not to use a stunt double for the deceased. Hugh Keays-Byrne — who originally played Joe —, thus guaranteeing the role of the famous villain of the saga.
Rictus Erectus

Rictus Eructus (Nathan Jones) is the well-known son of immortal joe, also featured in the previous film. The actor is, in reality, a former professional wrestler and known for his skills as a stuntman. Furthermore, he was also famous for playing imposing brute characters, as was the case with his participation in reboot de Conan the Barbarian, in 2011. Furthermore, the actor went further when he surprised by his versatility in roles that required experience in combat sports for productions such as The protector e The master of arms.
Organic Mechanic

Organic Mechanic (Angus Sampson) is a doctor who lives in citadel and treats patients in the desert. He is also one of the few characters who will return to the story, as he was already introduced in the previous film in the saga, in 2015.
The actor participated in the films Supernatural e Supernatural 2, but is most recognized for his recurring role on the series The Power and the Law, as well as episodes of the award-winning TV show Fargo.
