Futurama returns with new trailer, chaos and nostalgia!

After more than a decade without new episodes, Futurama, conceived by the same creators of The Simpsons, is close to its next re-release. The animation will premiere on the services of streaming do Hulu on July 24 and on Tuesday (27), a new trailer for the series was released.

In Brazil, the series will premiere on the same date for Star +! That way, fans here won't need to access the episodes through alternative means, such as using a VPN to subscribe to the Hulu, being a service streaming exclusive of the United States.

What to expect from the next season of Futurama?

According to the official synopsis of the Revival, it was mentioned that newcomer viewers will have the opportunity to catch up with the series from this point on, while those who have been longtime fans will be given answers to mysteries that span decades. Among those answers, expect the continuation of the epic love story between Fry and Leela, revelations about the cryptic contents of Nibbler's sandbox, hidden details about the evil Santa Claus Robot, and the location of Kif and Amy's tadpoles.

Meanwhile, the plot also explores a new pandemic that plagues the city, providing a reflection on the future of vaccines, cancellation culture, bitcoin and even the streams of TV. So, based on this information, it is possible to see that Futurama its roots will remain the same, where it shows that despite taking place in the future, society is still a parody of what we live in today.

In addition, for those who like to follow the series in English, the voice actors who provided the original voices for the series when it was launched in 1999 also return to their roles. Therefore, we have Billy West (Fry), Katey sagal (Leela) in the main cast, as well as confirmation that John DiMaggio, will continue as Bender's iconic voice, something that was still in doubt.

Accompanying the trio, we still have other actors like Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr e David herman, responsible for giving voice to several other characters that we follow during the animation.

The production of the work will be done by the hands of Matt Groening, which returns your partnership sun David X Cohen, another mind behind the creation of Futurama since its inception. Finally, when this revival was announced, 20 episodes were confirmed, but the 11th season will only have 10, so fans can also expect a renewal.

What is the series about?

The series follows the adventures of Fry, a pizza delivery boy, who is accidentally cryogenically frozen and wakes up a thousand years later in New New York. There, he joins an eccentric crew, including the robot Bender, the Cyclops Leela and many other strange beings, as they explore the universe and face cosmic challenges.

In addition to its sharp humor and intelligent dialogue, the series tackles social, political and scientific issues in an engaging and insightful way. However, unlike The Simpsons, which addresses these issues in a contemporary way, Futurama offers this subtle critique of society through its satirical look at the future, and also uses cultural and scientific references, to captivate the audience.

The episodes are varied, but range from time travel to clear parodies of famous films, as well as taking advantage of its technological setting to provide reflections on ethics and technology. As such, Futurama transcends the traditional animation format, appealing to both sci-fi fans and those who appreciate a good comedy.

In addition, it is worth mentioning that despite the success, since its launch, the series has found it difficult to stay on the air. O Hulu, the current holder of the production rights for the animation, is already the third production company trying to keep it on the air. Before that, Fox, where the series emerged, had the rights for five seasons and then passed them on to Comedy Central, responsible for the first revival of Futurama with three new seasons.

It is also worth remembering that, officially, this is actually the eighth season of Futurama, but there are some inconsistencies in the episode count. As production rights passed between Fox and Comedy Central, new films were created – later cut into several pieces and broadcast in series format.
