The campaign "I ate Windows Phone Dust"(Smoked by Windows Phone) has just suffered a setback. A smartphone user Galaxy Nexus (known as Galaxy X here in Brazil) won the challenge, accessing more quickly one of the functions suggested by the ecosystem.

The test in question consisted of accessing information about the weather forecast for two cities. The store salesperson ecosystem already had on your smartphone two "Live Tiles” with weather information in two cities, but blogger Sahas Katta, owner of Galaxy Nexus, also had 2 "Widgets" with predictions on your smartphone and, it is important to note, did not use a screen access saver (lockscreen), which made it possible for him to arrive at the result simply by clicking 1 button: which turns on the device. Surprised with the result, salespeople at the store in California stated that Katta had not won the challenge, as it would be necessary to show widget information about two cities in different states (in this case, the United States).

Sahas Katta left frustrated and related the story in the blog his. The news spread through social networks and reached Microsoft headquarters. A few hours later, the blogger received a notice to withdraw the prizes (an HP notebook worth $1.000 plus a Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone). The blogger has put the devices up for sale on eBay and said he will donate the money to a charity.

We here from showmetech We are in a similar situation. By participating in the launch event of the Lumias (710 and 800) in Brazil, I entered second in line to participate in the marketing action”I ate Windows Phone Dust”. Ready, with the name on the list of the person responsible for the action, I waited with a Galaxy Nexus in hands. I was planted next to the assistant who was doing the challenge. I waited 1, 2, 3… until 7 participants were placed in front of me. The challenge was considered completed without having the chance to participate.

Alright: even though I'm a big fan of both systems (Windows Phone e Android) it was a little embarrassing not to have been called for having a smartphone that could win the challenges proposed in the action of the ecosystem.

And you? Do you think this type of marketing “tactic” is fair? (chacc.co.uk)
