Less than a month after being released globally by Samsung,  Galaxy Note 9 is embarking in Brazilian lands. In an event held today (30), in São Paulo, the manufacturer confirmed the arrival of the S-Pen pen smartphone here and told us details about the price and availability of the model.

PTo talk about the launch, we talked to Renato Citrini, Senior Product Manager for the division mobile da Samsung Brazil. In an interview, he gave us some information about the Galaxy Note 9, about the new S Pen and how the new phablet differs from the Galaxy S9+.

What arrives with the Galaxy Note 9 here

The smartphone arrives here equipped with Qualcomm's newest processor, o Snapdragon 845. From the outside, the screen is of 6.4 inches, has Quad HD+ resolution and a Super AMOLED panel. The model is still aided by a memory 6GB or 8GB RAM and internal storage 128GB or 512GB, with the possibility of expansion through the use of microSD cards up to 512GB.

Andre Varga, Product Director at Samsung, commented that “Galaxy Note 9 is the ideal smartphone for anyone looking to power their daily life. his infinity screen at 6,4 inches is the biggest we’ve ever produced.”

Even more powerful battery

The drums, which was one of the highlights of the worldwide launch, arrives here with 4.000mAh – 700mAh more than the previous model. Samsung decided to invest in this aspect of the new smartphone precisely to prove that the Note 9 is the ideal choice for those who are always using their device, whether for personal or, mainly, professional purposes. With a larger battery, the company ensures that it does not let its users down.

“The Note 9 is built with a 4.000 mAh battery, the largest ever on the line. The models sold will be 128GB or 512Gb, with support for microSD cards to reach up to 1 terabyte.” explained Andrew.

smarter cameras

Just as Galaxy S9+, the Note 9's rear cameras also feature variable aperture, that is, they can identify the ambient light and automatically modify themselves to ensure that the photo comes out with the best possible quality. For this to happen, the main lens physically changes the amount of light absorbed by the camera, which goes from f / 1.5 all with f / 2.4.

In addition to the main lens, which even has artificial intelligence, the Galaxy Note 9 has a secondary lens – also 12 megapixels and which, like its predecessor, allows you to capture photos with optical zoom from to 2X without any loss of quality.

The front camera, in turn, has 8 SM for selfies, f/1.7 aperture, new customizable AR Emojis and autofocus. The Note 9 also arrives here with the technology of artificial intelligence used in the cameras, capable of identifying the environment, landscape or type of photo to be taken and, automatically, adjusting the parameters so that the image presents better colors, contrast and brightness.

In addition, the device is able to warn if it detects any defect in the photo – such as someone who left the image with their eyes closed, for example.

Smartphone and computer: Samsung Dex

Dex mode brings multitasking with shared screen
Dex Mode Brings Screen Shared Multitasking

One of the novelties of the new Galaxy Note 9 is the simple way to connect it to a computer through the dex mode. Simply connect your smartphone to a monitor via the cable and mirroring happens quickly and intuitively. Another highlight of dex mode is to use the Note 9 both on the computer and on the smartphone itself with two separate screens, that is, multitasking.

Renato also talked a little about the arrival of other accessories for the Galaxy Note 9 here in Brazil, such as the wireless charger Charger Duo, capable of charging up to two devices at the same time.

“Dex is no longer an accessory and becomes a mode. The connector is simply an HDMI adapter on one side and USB-C on the other and can be found in the market easily. The device automatically understands that it is plugged into another screen and enters Dex mode.”

S Pen also arrives with news

S- also had upgrades
Yellow S-pen in blue model

Just as it was presented at the official launch, the S Pen also comes with upgrades. The most visible is the new yellow color, but the important thing is that it also gains new functions. The new S Pen works as a kind of remote control for Note 9, through its button it is possible to control the playback of videos, take a photo, control the slideshow, among others.

The s-pen also has the functionality of a remote control on the galaxy note 9
S-Pen can be used as a remote control

It has its own battery that lasts 30 minutes outside the Note 9, but charging is very fast. Only 30 seconds are required docked in the smartphone for it to be fully charged once again. But this is just the beginning, now that the S Pen has shown its new functionality, Samsung promises that more features will be added to it over time, including by other developers.

“The new S Pen does everything the others already do, but now we've added these features that work through a Bluetooth connection, so you can use it within a radius of up to 10 meters from the Note 9. It can now command and control the smartphone in camera, music functions, and this functionality will be open to developers who want to use them in their applications.” said Renato.

Galaxy Note 9 vs Galaxy S9+

Note9 vs s9, the basic differences
What are the basic differences?

And with this arrival, some people may wonder: what is really the difference between the two great devices launched this year by the company? According to Renato himself, the great differences of the Note 9 in relation to the Galaxy S9 are first to S Pen, which comes with new features, according to camera, which also has more artificial intelligence resources compared to the previously released model, even with the same sensors, and finally productivity and performance, especially in relation to games.

“Games are applications that demand a lot of processor and memory because you are using everything there almost to the limit with sound, graphics and even 3D. That’s why we partnered with Fortnite at launch to showcase all the processing power and productivity that is possible with the Note 9.”

Renato also talked a little about how the devices are designed for different audiences. “We have the audience for the S9, people who are more focused on having a top-of-the-line smartphone, but focused on design and beauty. Note 9 users, on the other hand, are people who are entrepreneurs, who want to use the device as a work tool, who mix their professional and personal lives and who always want to do more in less time, thus demanding more from the machine that is the smartphone”

Another novelty that arrives here is the newest smartwatch from Samsung, the Galaxy Watch. Replacing the Samsung Gear, the company's new smart watch model promises more advantages and much more autonomy. On the larger model, Samsung guarantees up to 80 hours of normal use.

“Galaxy Watch brings an important evolution to the battery, which now makes the smartwatch last up to 2 days without needing to be recharged.” stated Andre Varga.

It has numerous advantages such as wireless charging, which can be done together with the Note 9 with the Charger Duo, connectivity via cellular network, a screen with Super AMOLED technology and even allows the user to dive up to 40 meters deep.

The operating system is still the company's own Tizen, which dispels some rumors that it would come with Google's WearOS. And the look is still round, a model that is more reminiscent of the classic and that seems to please users more. Its intelligence functions have a sensor that indicates when the heart is beating too fast and inviting the user to relax a little, and even monitoring the quality of sleep.
