After eight months of launch, the iPhone X lost the monthly lead smartphone best seller in the world. The rival could not be another: the Galaxy S9. The data comes from Counterpoint's MarketPulse.
Samsung leads, but overall Apple sold more
According to the report of smartphones in April, a Samsung took the lead with the Galaxy S9 and S9+ models. Each represented 2,6% of market share. Meanwhile, the iPhone X has a 2,3% market share. It was a victory for Samsung, which apart from these two models only features the Galaxy S8 at the bottom of the top 10 list.
Therefore, if we look at the graph more broadly, we can see that the victory of Samsung was isolated. A Apple dominates the top 10 list with 5 models, moreover, in market share it reasserts power with 9,6%. THE Samsung, on the other hand, has only 6,5% of the share among the best sellers.
Nevertheless, the Samsung must commemorate its position with the Galaxy S9. Much is due to the novelties of the models, with a “reinvented” camera, in addition to the bet on subtle improvements of what was already great.
