There are two new Globosat products on the way: Telecine Play and, later, Premiere Play for sports.

The success of Netflix in Brazil is something unquestionable. The affordable price recipe, exclusive content and the ability to watch it from anywhere was an expected success, which stimulated the Globosat, channel programmer Globe, to create competing products. In 2015, we had the Play globe, which broadcasts telenovelas live over the internet in the same way as Netflix, and the Globosat does not intend to stop there. There are two new products on the way: the Telecine Play and later the premiere play for sports.

Globosat

Alberto Pecegueiro, director general of Globosat, “The most immediate is Telecine Play“, which will be made available independently of the TV subscription. More than that, the Globosat wants to work in partnership with operators: “we will not run over our relationship with operators, it is an alliance for progress", says Albert, "that they will be able to offer to broadband subscribers“. It is worth saying that both the Telecine Play as much as premiere play already exist, but are linked to pay television subscription plans.

Comparation

Telecine Play is seen by the Globosat as a competitor of Netflix, and Pecegueiro already points out its differential: “Telecine will be purely for films. And premium movies, which Netflix is not“. Initially, there will be a partnership with Fox, from which the blockbusters. Pecegueiro also points out that there is no risk of streaming disrupt pay TV: “The challenge is not different from that of open TV when deciding to enter pay TV: facing cannibalization in order not to stop competing in new technologies".

Individual billing and exclusive series

Will the services of Globosat Will they be able to compete with the strength of Netflix? We will have to wait and see, especially as each service is separate and billed individually. While Netflix has a one-time subscription and R$19,90 and makes all of its content available to Globosat cobra R$14,90 by Globo Play, and intends to charge other R$30 by Telecine Play. Like Netflix, it does not rule out announcing exclusive series: “As consumption here is individual and on demand, it is a window that makes it possible to experience other, more appropriate stories. On open TV, we have the whole issue of ratings. Consumption is in the family room. Not here. We can try different content".

We'll wait and see, but we want to hear from you: do you think the Telecine Play sold separately will be a success? Will it be a threat to Netflix? Tell us in the comments!
