God of War: Trophies and Secret Items Guide

God of War (2018) came to PC recently and is a huge success. In this God of War trophy guide, we will help you, my dear reader, who seeks to collect all the treasures, complete the main side missions and also defeat the 9 Valkyries scattered throughout the game's realms.

Although there are many things you can do besides what I'm going to talk about here, the focus will be on getting all the trophies (or achievements, in the case of Steam), reaching the most important achievement, called Father and Son - which represents the trophy of platinum on the Playstation version.

Two important things about the guide: the first is that, because it works exactly the same regardless of version, the terms “achievement” and “trophy” will be used. The other caveat is that God of War (2018) doesn't have any difficulty-related achievements, so feel free to play however you like. Also, the collectibles are not "missable", allowing you to pick them up after finishing the main quest.

Step 1: Finish the God of War (2018) story

WARNING: THE GUIDE IS FILLED WITH SPOILERS!

God of War (2018) has a total of 37 achievements and most of it you will get without realizing it. For the first time, just complete Kratos and Atreus' journey and enjoy all that Midgard and the other realms can offer you. By the time you finish the story, you will likely have acquired a considerable amount of God of War achievements.

God of War Achievements automatically collected by completing the main story:

You will likely also collect most of these achievements listed below on your first playthrough:

After taking Faye's ashes to Jotunheim, you will see the end credits and the game will allow you to explore its "open world" and have access to everything. Whether or not you've done any side quests so far doesn't change much except that you're stronger.

And, well, the achievements Path of the Zealot e primordial require you to craft the armor from Sindri and Brok, but you'll likely have the necessary materials by the end of the game. With that done, let's move on to the second step of the guide.

Step 2: Collectibles and Side Quests

This is the part of the God of War guide where things start to get more complicated. Here we will not only have many collectibles, but also a lot of exploration. For ease of access, I'm going to divide each of the God of War achievements into subtopics, with the locations and tips for each.

This achievement will require you to explore every corner of the “Lake of Nine” island, making the mist disappear from these areas. Although it seems very difficult, because we are behind the many other collectibles in the game, this achievement will be automatically received when you least expect it.

To make life easier, however, the areas you need to explore to earn the achievement are as follows, in clockwise order:

• the builder channel
• Council of Valkyries
• stone waterfall
• Veithurgard
• Buri Reservoir
• crow cliffs
• Watch-tower
• island of death
• Iron Cove
• forgotten caves
• Ancestor's Ruins

Veithurgard is another area of ​​the game and it has an exclusive achievement. You can access it by boat right after opening the big gate in the “stone waterfall” area. Veithurgard has 6 artifacts, 1 mystical portal, 1 favors (not required for achievement), 1 store, 6 milestones of knowledge, 1 legendary chest, 1 chest Nórnir e 3 Odin's Ravens. There's a dragon in the area as well, but he's not needed to that conquest. Check out the video with the locations:

Trilingual

To get this achievement, you'll need to learn the languages ​​of Niflheim and Muspelheim, realms of mist and fire, respectively. The ciphers with their language are found in the purple chests that we found and that Atreus opens with his knife. You need 4 ciphers for each realm and 8 in total.

Fortunately, there are more than 8 chests in the game and unlike other collectibles, these chests are not marked on the map and do not count towards 100% of the game. The advantage of taking them all, however, is that they will give you upgrade items for your armor and weapons, but nothing that will effectively change the course of the game.

To access the realms after acquiring the 4 ciphers of each of them, just go to the center of Costa dos Nine and in the portal, choose one of the realms. These realms are optional, but essential for getting all God of War achievements. The video with the location of the 8 figures is below:

Iðunn Orchard and Short Fuse

as well as God of War previous ones, we need to upgrade our health bar around here. You will need 9 Iðuun Apples to get the maximum health level, which can be found in Nórnir Chests, the ones with 3 runes. It's important to note that these chests can also feature Bloody Mead Horns, which improve your Rage.

You need to open 18 chests to max health and rage, but we have 21 chests in total, allowing you to find them more easily. In addition, the game marks everything on the map, which makes it even better to find these chests, remembering that you can get them in the post-game. Death to all

This achievement seems a bit tricky at first, but it's something you'll get without realizing it as you play. Your mission in question is to kill 1.000 enemies. There's no trick or tutorial for that, just do the side quests, challenges and kill as many enemies as you can until you get the achievement. For those who played the other games in the franchise, this is just another common achievement,

Danger in the Skies

God of War 2018 has three dragons to be freed. They are all located in areas of Midgard:

• The Dragon fafnir is on the Council of Valkyries
• The Dragon reginn is in Konunsgard
• The Dragon Other stays in Veithurgard

To free them, you need to destroy 3 shrines with runes, which serve as chains for these dragons. These shrines will always be in the area where the dragon is, and once you've destroyed them, you can get close to them and set them free. When you manage to save the three dragons, the achievement will unlock. Check out the details on how to find the three dragons:

Like Water and Oil

To get this achievement in God of War (2018), you will need to complete all 5 favors from the dwarves Brok and Sindri. It's two favors from Brok and two from Sindri, and after that, they'll team up to give you one last favor.

In addition to being interesting missions and providing a bonus in exploring the game, these missions are also great for improving your equipment. Sindri's favors in Niflheim are not required for this achievement. See the missions and when they will be released below:

In addition to the XP and loot that you will earn in the process of the quests, after completing all of them, two great level 6 armors will be available for purchase in the dwarves shop.

Collector

In total, we have 45 artifacts to collect in God of War (2018). They are sparkling items that you will find in the game world and are part of a collection of valuable items. They are separated by region and fortunately can be collected at any point in the game.

Also, the map has a marker for them, so you can always refer to it to see where something is missing. They are divided by “collections” and to facilitate your search, follow the video with all the locations:

Blinding the All-Father

On my journey to get the platinum trophy back in 2018, finding all of Odin's crows was one of the coolest quests I've had, after all, despite being scattered throughout all the game's realms, they have one interesting thing for you to find- los: they make a very specific metallic noise.

They are green, translucent crows and you need to destroy 51 of them in total. They can be on top of a rock, behind a waterfall, or anywhere else. Put on your best phone and good luck. Just like any other God of War (2018) collectibles, they are also marked on the map. Outstanding issues

In addition to the favors for Sindri and Brok, the game has 5 more side missions. They can be activated by Erratic Spirits, NPCs you find throughout Midgard who will ask you for a favor in exchange for something. Check the locations of each and what to do.

• Favour "deadly trip" in the region forgotten caves: you meet the spirit on the beach and get there by boat. After talking to him, you will have to put the crew of that spirit to "rest" and three locations will be available on the map. Do the work and then come back to the spirit.
• Favour "The Anatomy of Hope" in the region The Builder Channel: when entering the area, go right until you find the beach. The spirit must be right there. Talking to him, he will ask you to collect 3 bones. The location of the 3 bones will be marked on the map and the mission is very simple. Be prepared for battle, but nothing too challenging. Upon collecting the 3 bones, return to the spirit and get your reward.
• Favour "Hammer's Ruin" in the region stone waterfall: You will need to climb to the top of the area, in the same place where you opened the passage to Veithurgard. The spirit asks you for a simple favor: destroy the statue of Thor in Veithurgard. Do that and report back to him later and you're done.
• Favour "Outstanding issues": can be activated in 4 different locations: Corvo Cliffs, Isle of Death, Forgotten Caves ou Iron Cove. Regardless of which location you choose, to activate it, you will need to interact with a Knowledge Landmark Stone. Upon doing so, a blue flame will appear, with a spirit. He will ask you to visit the other 3 locations. Light the other flames and kill the enemies and complete the favor.
• Favour "Time heals everything” on site Fafnir's Deposit: for the spirit to appear, it is necessary to complete the favor of sindri, Fáfnir's Hideout. When you can talk to the spirit, what you will need to do is go to the Northri fortress in search of answers about the child of the spirit. The location is the same location where Sindri sends you in her second favor, so you will already be familiar with the location. After taking the information to the spirit and completing the quest, he will earn the achievement.

Treasure hunt

In God of War (2018), we have a total of 12 treasure maps, which lead us to 12 hidden treasures. Exploration is interesting, and once you find the maps, if you've walked around the game's map far enough, you'll be able to find them all on your own. Check the location of the maps:

• The Turtle Tribute, found near the "River Passage" in the Witch's Cave.
• dead and swollen, found in Volunder mines in Brok's first favor.
• Kneel before Thor!, found in Landshuter mines in Brok's second favor, Deux Ex Malachite
• Do not blink, found not Fafnir's Deposit. Can be accessed when doing Sindri's first favor.
• Njord's Oarsmen, found in Northri Fortress, inside an old boat. You must have done Sindri's second favor to access the area.
• Island of Creation, found in Iron Cove. The place is small so no problem finding the map.
• Profit Sharing, found in forgotten caves, close to a Mystical Portal.
• Captain's Key, found in stone waterfall. Go to the top of the area and you will find the map, without much of a secret.
• Island of Light, found not Builder Channel. Just head to the dock south of the region and you'll find the map on the beach.
• the historian, found in Ancestor's Ruins. It is a very small area of ​​Midgard and has only 1 Mystical Portal, 1 Purple Cipher Chest and of course the treasure map, which will be on the beach floor.
• hunter's kingdom, found in the region watchtower. Climb to the top of the area until you find a Nórnir Chest. the map will be right in front of the chest.
• they can't even imagine, found in the region The mountain. This is one of the best hidden maps in the game. To find it, travel to the Portal of Cume and go back up the mountain until you find a secret entrance on the left, which will take you to a shop in Sindri. Go past the shop along the wall and enter the cave. The map will be in the center of the area.

The truth

Our latest achievement involving collectibles will require you to explore the God of War (2018) map well. Are 11 Jotnar Temples that you'll find throughout the game's realms and they look like wooden doors, so when you see one, you won't have a problem.

The difficulty, however, is that they are not marked on the map and despite being few, they are very well spread around. It is possible that if you explored everything calmly, you have found a good part of them. Here's the order of each with their location:

• Skoll and Hati, found in the region Wild Forest;
• Collapsed, found in the region River Valley;
• Ymir, found in the region The mountain;
• skadi, found in the region Veithurgard;
• Jormungadr e Thrim, found in the region Coast of Nine;
• Groa, found in the region lake of light, em Alphaheim;
• Bergelmir, found in the region The Temple of Tyr;
• Thamur, found in the region Thamur's body;
• starkadr, found in the region Konunsgard;
• surtr, found on muspelheim, beside Cubes;

Step 3: Challenges and Valkyries

At this point, you'll have done almost everything in the game, but it still remains to explore the two optional realms: muspelheim e niflheim. The first, kingdom of fire, you will have to overcome various challenges using your best combat skills until you reach the top. In the second, kingdom of mist, will have to farm (farm or conquer, in game language) lots of fog echoes to be able to open all the chests there. By doing this you will get the achievements "fire and sulfur"and "Darkness and Mist”.

Doing both challenges, the only thing left for you to finally get the achievement Father and son will be to beat Queen Valkyrie and well, I wish you good luck. Jokes aside, when you complete the challenges, you will also be able to improve both the Leviathan Ax and the Blades of Chaos to the maximum level, earning the achievements Worthy e don't resist.

Tips for the challenges

These tips are worth much more for the challenges of niflheim, as it requires double attention because of the fog, but here are some points you should pay attention to:

• Dying in the mist causes you to lose any Echoes of Mist that he would win if he came out alive;
• It is recommended to have level 6 or 7 armor to complete Muspelheim challenges;
• You need to complete 3 challenges on difficulty impossible to get the trophy. It is recommended that you do challenges #2, #3 and #5 as they are easier.

The most boring part of the challenges is with the mist realm, as you will have to farm around 68 fog echoes to be able to open all chests. Here's a video with a good scheme for you to get these echoes and also become more resistant to fog in the area:

Location and strategy for the Valkyries

To finish, you will have to kill 9 Valkyres. Eight of them are scattered across the realms of God of War (2018), but the last one will only be available after defeating the others in the region. Council of Valkyries. Here's their location and the proper gear to fight the Queen afterwards:

• 4 Valkyries in Midgard
• 1 in Alfheim
• 1 in Helheim
• 1 in Muspelheim
• 1 child Niflheim

Although they are the biggest challenge in the game, they have a pattern of blows and once you learn the timing and how to use them to your advantage, everything becomes much easier.

• It is recommended that you use the armor Dwarven Reign of Sindri at max level, making you invulnerable for a few seconds when using runic moves. Also, the charge time of these moves will decrease greatly with this armor.
• Place Runes that decrease the cooldown of runic attacks in the enchantment slots
• Slight Runic Attack of the Machado: Hel's touch (Automatically released in the story)
• Machado Heavy Runic Attack: Frost Giant's Frenzy (Purchasable in store after finishing the story)
• Blade Runic Attacks: Whichever deals the most damage. if available, Ferocity of the Furies in light attack and Fire of Ares no heavy attack.
• Atreus Runic Attack: Same logic as blades, so whichever deals more damage. The Raven skill is a good recommendation.
• Upgrade your runic attacks to max level. just go to weapons, choose one of the attacks and hold square to upgrade.

These tips are mostly useful for taking on the Queen of Valkyries, but any one of them will work just fine. Below is a list of strategies to use when fighting:

• Press the Valkyries with shock arrows by pressing square. This will make them stunned.
• Watch out when a red sign appears. This means that the coup cannot be defended. It's time to dodge. Depending on the difficulty you're playing, one hit is enough for you to die.
• Use the Hel's touch to stun them and take advantage of this moment to use all your runic attacks. And remember, when at max level, they grant new blows. You can check it out at weapons and then go on top of each of the runic attacks.
• With Sindri's armor kit, the key to victory here will be to use as many runic attacks as possible in the fight, after all you will be invulnerable when using them. As you will have other accessories that will speed up their use, be patient and learn to dodge the blows.
• If you happen to run low on health, use the Sparta's Rage and smash it with R1's attack, causing it to recover health faster.
• Don't forget to buy a Berserker Resurrection Stone from the shop so that if you die, you'll have another chance against the Valkyries. It is important to warn that it does not activate itself and you need to press the button square when Kratos is dying.
• Finally, if you're having a lot of trouble, you can change the game's difficulty to easy in the options. This will take away part of the Valkyries' challenge, but if you're only interested in getting the achievements, it might be worth it. It's good to warn you that if you're on the hardest difficulty in the game, you won't be able to change it.
