Google Fell? See services down and in trouble

Services like Gmail, Search and YouTube were completely without access. Here's how to find out if Google is down, and which services are also down

This Monday morning, around 8:45 am, the main services of the Google were off the air, both in Brazil and in several other countries. Users reported on social media that “Google is down!” and that therefore applications and the web version of products and services such as gmail, Maps, Drive e YouTube simply didn't work or gave error 500. The terms # Google, #gmail e #Youtube figured in the Twitter as the most commented on Trending Topics world.

Services that use the account Google to perform the login were also affected. According to the website DownDetector, Google's failure hit Latin America, North America, Europe and Asia.

At around 9:30 am there was a gradual and partial return of the tools that were out of service. In case of gmail, for example, contacts are still unavailable. So far, the Google has not commented on its official channels about what caused the general breakdown.

Google crashed? How to know if the service is down or failing

One of the best options is Downdetector, which gathers information from the most diverse websites and online services. When accessing, just enter what you want to check in the search field, or click on the search bar looking for the name of the service, application or website. It features notifications of issues in the last 24 hours, producing real-time graphs. You can also report if the service is experiencing issues and check for notifications from other users.

this afternoon the Google officially commented on what happened:


“Today, at 8:47 am (Brasília time), the Google suffered a crash in its authentication system, for approximately 45 minutes, due to an internal storage quota management problem. Services that require user logins experienced high error rates during this period. Authentication error resolved at 9:32 am. All services are restored. We apologize to those affected and will conduct a thorough review to ensure this does not happen again in the future.”
