O Google decided to use augmented reality to entertain users, even more so during this pandemic period. This technology is already part of human life and is used in various segments, such as real estate sales. With social isolation and the need to avoid agglomerations, Google has expanded its possibilities, bringing 3D animals into your home, through your smartphone.
announced on Google I/O 2019, the company's annual event, this technology consists of a visual experience where the user can, inside their home — or in any environment —, simulate the experience with various things, through their cell phone camera. The service has been available for a few months, but since March, as was announced by Showmetech, Google has added new features and now even the human body systems are available.
How to view 3D animals?
Access to the tool is very easy, it is not necessary to install any application and the cell phone does not need to be one of the best on the market. The only prerequisite is that the Android is above version 7.0 or that the iPhone e iPad have respectively iOS and iPadOS from version 11 onwards. The technology is not available for notebooks and desktops.
To preview, just follow the steps below:
- In Google search tool or browsers Chrome e safari, just search for one of the animals on the list, which you can check out below. Here, let's interact with a tiger:
- Below the description of the animal, you have the option “See in 3D”. Clicking on it, a new window will open with two tabs: Object, where you will see the animal in 360º; and AR (Augmented Reality), where you will see the animal in the environment you are in.
- Once this is done, you can photograph the space and even call a person to appear with the image in augmented reality.
Check out the list of 3D animals you can find in augmented reality:
In addition, there are also insects that can be seen in 3D:
And also see the 3D dinosaurs:
| Ankylosaurus | Brachiosaurus | Dilophosaurus |
| Spinosaurus | Stegosaurus | Parasaurolophus |
| Pteranodon | Tyrannosaurus rex | Triceratops |
| Velociraptor |
beyond the animals 3D
The augmented reality viewing list goes far beyond living beings. Imagine you taking a picture with a dinosaur or exploring the 11 systems of the human body in a very different experience from the traditional ones? Well, that's possible. In this tool, you can see, for example, the human heartbeat.
According to Google, it is currently available to 3D interaction in 6 different categories: terrestrial animals, aquatic and wetland animals, birds, pets, anatomical systems of the human body and cellular structures.
In addition to these, the company added a ? quite historical: searching for “Caverna de Chauvet”, the user can visit the French Cave where several fossils of extinct animals were found. In the search for “Neil Armstrong”, the user visualizes, in detail, the spacesuit used in the first trip to the moon. When searching for “command module of the Apollo 11”, it will be possible to see images of the space plane that took Neil, Collins and Aldrin on this first trip to the satellite.
It is important to note that, in some cases, users must search for the name they are interested in in English. In the case of the solar system, for example, the search for planets must be in English, as the 3D experience is done from the NASA page. So just search for “Moon”, which is “Lua” in English.
