Different and complex, the Hogwarts houses make up an important element of the Harry Potter universe, see below the history and main characteristics of each one!

With the launch of Hogwarts legacy closer and closer, and knowing that players will be able to choose where their home will be in this new game released for conventional consoles, the showmetech prepared a special text (with spoilers) with everything you need to know about the selection system at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and its four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw e Slytherin, as well as some information about its founders, so that you can prepare yourself and discover which house you intend to embark on this new adventure with Wizarding World!

How did the Hogwarts Houses come to be?

Created around the end of the tenth century in the Scottish Highlands (Great Britain), Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was founded by Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw e salazar slytherin (in the Portuguese translation, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw e Salazar Slytherin), four of the most notable wizards of their time, who decided to unite with the intention of building an environment where they could teach magic to young wizards more safely, since they lived in a time when the witch hunt was strong .

Although the four were friends, salazar slytherin disagreed with the decision to allow any young wizard to study in Hogwarts, since for him wizards who did not have pure bloodlines were not worthy of learning magic there. It was based on this that they decided to create four houses, each one under the responsibility of a different founder, which would accept students who possessed the characteristics most prized by each of the founders: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw e Slytherin.

The division of students is an important moment for those who have just arrived at Hogwarts

"The valiant Gryffindor of the moors"

Godric Gryffindor, probably born in the early decades of the XNUMXth century, but without any further information, grew up and lived part of his life on a moor in the southwest region of England, which later became a village famous for being home to several of Great Britain's most notable wizards. -Britain, like family Peverell, the Potter, the Dumbledore, Bathilda Bagshot and his grandnephew, Gellert Grindelwald. This village was named after Godric's Hollow in honor of himself Godric Gryffindor, proving that he was, indeed, one of the most respected wizards of his time.

Fearless, brave and noble were some of the many characteristics that marked the personality of the young man. Godric Gryffindor, who liked to challenge himself. He spent several years hiding from Muggles in order to learn magic however he could during the dark period in history when wizards were hunted and killed, later becoming an accomplished and versatile duelist, able to wield both a wand and a sword. He knew the appropriate time to use each one. His sword was used for duels with Muggles, never using his wand to gain an advantage, which demonstrated his sense of nobility and justice.

We will teach those of illustrious names for great deeds

Godric Gryffindor

Years later, after teaming up with three other of the most talented wizards of that time and founding the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, with the decision that each of the founders would create a house to house the students within the characteristics most prized by them, godric founded the Gryffindor.

WHO KNOWS HER ADDRESS IS GRYFFINDOR,

SELECTOR HAT

Located on the seventh floor tower of Hogwarts, Gryffindor Its mascot is the lion, an animal that represents courage and honor, a figure that, with the colors red and gold, make up the coat of arms and the official colors of the house. Its corresponding element is fire and it has two rare objects, belonging to the founder: the Sorting Hat and the Sword of Gryffindor, which together are of great help to members of the house, because whenever a true Gryffindor needs it, the sword allows itself to be pulled from within another item of Godric Gryffindor, i.e. the Sorting Hat.

As is well known, the students selected for this house are those whose most striking characteristics are between justice, nobility, daring, impulse and courage, and throughout the seven books and eight films of the franchise, the Gryffindor it was the most explored house, since the protagonist of the story was part of it.

The Gryffindor Common Room at Hogwarts Legacy

Therefore, it was much more common to accompany characters who passed through there, which allowed us to realize that despite sharing things in common and valued by the founder of the Gryffindor, each of these characters also had their own personalities and thoughts, while remaining authentic, each in their own way. Not always the characteristics that make you Gryffindor they will be so perceptive, but they are there.

In addition to the well-known features of the Gryffindor, there are also some other details that are often described as the “trademark” of the students of this house, the appreciation for breaking rules being one of the most common, since Gryffindors have, for the most part, the tendency to want to challenge themselves. Their impulsiveness and daring also make them put themselves at the forefront of causes, defending what they believe with all their might, but since they have an indomitable heart, they tend to act a lot with emotion and can end up being quite reckless along the way.

Digging a little deeper into the house and its members, we have some examples of characters who initially didn't seem to belong in the house. Gryffindor, but which throughout history revealed more of the reasons why they were there.

Among them, the protagonist himself, Harry Potter, who although Selector hat been in doubt of what to do with it, and having even considered sending it to Slytherin, ended up being placed in the Gryffindor. It is known that Harry asked not to be sent to Slytherin, but he also didn't ask to go to Gryffindor. His concern was simple: he didn't want to become a bad person, and so far the only information he had about the house was enough for him to fear being there. In the course of the story, we come across numerous characteristics Gryffindors in the boy, whether in the way he acts or behaves with people, especially his nobility, impulsiveness and courage.

Hermione, Harry and Ron

As with him, the Selector hat was also in doubt where to send Hermione Granger. Being the smartest witch of her age, there is much debate about her matching too well with the Ravenclaw for having one of the hallmarks of the house, but over the course of the story we realize how much the character had a closed mind for many subjects, which does not match the characteristics of a Ravenclaw at all.

It also demonstrates clear features of the Gryffindor, such as boldness, impulsiveness and even arrogance through the way he exposed his knowledge. Hermione not only was she smart, she also liked to flaunt her intelligence. But one thing is for sure, as smart as she was, her extreme courage and sense of justice always spoke louder, and her friendships were always put first, even if it forced her to break the rules.

Neville longbottom was also one of the students who Selector hat it took him a while to decide where he would go, but that same year he proved how brave and courageous he was by standing up to his own friends and trying to stop them from doing something stupid. The plot throughout the books also showed more of Neville's personality, which despite being an insecure wizard, was extremely courageous.

Not enough, proof that he was a true Gryffindor came during the Battle of Hogwarts, when he wielded the Sword of Gryffindor and killed the snake Nagini, one of Voldemort's Horcruxes. Who wasn't moved by his monologue during the battle in the movies? A very brave and honorable character.

Neville and Harry in the Order of the Phoenix
Other important characters in history were also part of the house. Image: WB/Playback

Escaping the stereotype, Peter Pettigrew (Peter Pettigrew, in Portuguese), the Wormtail, was not only a dark wizard, but was also responsible for delivering the location of one of his best friends, James Potter (James Potter, in Portuguese) for Voldemort. he went from Gryffindor in his school days, he was an extremely insecure and influential boy, who, upon graduation, joined the Order of the Phoenix alongside his friends, but ended up switching sides during the First Wizarding War, choosing to become a Death Eater in secret, remaining undercover and later betraying his friends by delivering one of them to his death.

Of all this, what can be thought is that despite Peter at some point have possessed the characteristics prized by Gryffindor, Dumbledore once said: “It is our choices that reveal what we really are, much more than our qualities”.

"The sweet Hufflepuff of the plains"

Hufflepuff gained more prominence with the Fantastic Beasts movies. Image: Harry Potter wiki

Helga Hufflepuff was born sometime in the early tenth century, having grown up and lived part of his life in the wide valleys of Wales, more specifically in South Wales, Great Britain. his last name, Hufflepuff, comes from the English expression “Huff and Puff”, which in the literal translation means “to puff and puff”, referring to the sighs of someone who does hard work.

In the free translation, it can be put as “lufar e lufar”, justifying the choice of the founder’s surname in Portuguese: Hufflepuff. In addition, the analogy of the last name with the sighs of those who work hard also fits very well with one of Helga's most striking characteristics, the effort, dedication and tireless work she did for what she believed.

Helpful, loyal, kind and patient. These were some of the characteristics of who she was considered one of the greatest witches of her time. Helga he didn't refuse to help anyone who needed help, no matter if he was a wizard, creature or even muggle. He even took risks when exposing himself to help Muggles, since he lived in a delicate time for wizards, who needed to hide from witch hunters and bigots. She had extensive knowledge of magic, demonstrated by being both an inventor and an extremely talented witch in many areas. She also became known as one of the first advocates of equality between peoples.

This will be your Common Room from your Hogwarts Legacy house, if you choose Hufflepuff

We will teach them all, and I will treat them equally.

Helga hufflepuff

Having teamed up with three other wizards as talented as she was, they decided to create the best school of witchcraft and wizardry in the world, and it was Helga who gathered wizards from different parts of the world to help build the castle and, regardless of their class, treated everyone very well.

When Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was ready, and each founder wanted to define the characteristics they would like their students to possess so that they could teach them magic, Helga I wanted to teach all those who wanted to learn, with equality and without distinction. And so his house was founded, bearing his surname: Hufflepuff.

WHO KNOWS IT IS IN THE HUFFLE WHEEL YOU WILL LIVE,

WHERE ITS RESIDENTS ARE FAIR AND LOYAL,

PATIENTS, SINCERE, WITHOUT FEAR OF PAIN;

SELECTOR HAT

Located just one floor below the ground floor, the Hufflepuff is considered the most comfortable Hogwarts, with windows at the height of the school lawn. The salon is located in the same corridor as the kitchens, where its founder used to show off her culinary skills by making recipes that are still used today. THE Hufflepuff It has a badger as a mascot, an animal that represents a quiet and unpretentious nature, but which, when provoked, faces creatures up to ten times its size. The mascot, with the colors yellow and black, make up the coat of arms and the official colors of the house, present not only in the coat of arms, but also in parts of the uniforms of the Hufflepuff students.

Its corresponding element is earth and it has a rare object, belonging to the founder, Helga Hufflepuff: Helga Hufflepuff's Cup, creation of the founder herself that had magical elements and was passed down from generation to generation by the witch's descendants. The last descendant in possession of the cup was the witch. Hepzibah Smith. Unfortunately, after being stolen by Tom riddle and having become one of the Horcruxes, it ended up being destroyed by Hermione Granger with a basilisk tooth.

Unlike the students from the other three houses, those selected for the Hufflepuff they didn't need to possess any special characteristics to be admitted, but soon a pattern began to form, it became increasingly clear that those selected for the house of Helga possessed characteristics that she herself possessed.

Among these characteristics were those of hard work, helpful, loyal, fair, patient, kind, among others. Not many characters were Hufflepuff that had some prominence in the books and movies, but the ones that appeared showed a lot of what they were like.

Cedric harry potter
Before being Edward Cullen or Batman, Robert Pattison was Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter. Image: WB/Playback

A feature, although not specified, but very notable among students of the Hufflepuff, is modesty. They don't care to be recognized for their accomplishments and so there is often a misconception that wizards coming from this house are not as talented as others. They usually do things because they believe in them and not because they expect something in return. Another interesting feature is that they are very sociable and make friends easily, something they may have also “inherited” from the founder of their house, since Helga she was responsible for the best parties in the castle. THE Hufflepuff it is also the house that produced the fewest dark wizards.

Among some members who gained greater prominence in books and movies, there is the darling Cedric Diggory (Cedric, in the English translation), which demonstrates several qualities of a Hufflepuff, such as honesty, fairness, loyalty and protection. In his first appearance in the books, in The Prisoner of Azkaban, when he is playing Quidditch against Gryffindor e Harry Potter falls off the broom in the middle of a dispute over the Snitch due to the presence of the Dementors in the place, cedric he catches the snitch without having noticed what happened and when he realizes the situation, he tries to do everything he can to annul the game, as he doesn't think it's fair to win it at the expense of a situation like that.

Already at times like The Goblet of Fire, he is described as an extremely talented and courageous wizard, and we see this throughout the book, where he is also shown to be a friend of Harry and tries to get his classmates and other students to stop making fun of the boy for playing against each other in the Triwizard Tournament. Also, it's important to mention that during the last match of the tournament, he could have won the cup alone, but he cared enough about Harry to help you in times of difficulty. Even in the moments leading up to his death, Cedric Diggory He showed himself to be an honorable wizard who truly wore the mantle of his house until the last moment.

Nymphadora Tonks, despite not gaining so much prominence in the movies, is one of the main Hufflepuffs in history. Image: WB/Playback

Another great responsible for showing the Hufflepuffs to the world and escapes a little from the stereotype of what it is to be a Hufflepuff é Nymphadora Tonks (nymphadora, in the English translation), a metamorphmagus capable of performing transfigurations in her own body and changing the colors of her hair. She is described as a Hufflepuff who used to wear clothes in a “half punk” style, bubblegum pink hair and too clumsy. Inserted in the already adult plot, tonks is the daughter of Andromeda Black, that by marrying a muggle, Ted Tonks, was rejected by the Black family due to her pure-blood supremacist conduct.

Graduated in Hogwarts in May 1991, the year in which Harry would do her freshman year, never becoming head of her house because, according to Pomona sprout, director of Hufflepuff, she lacked some necessary characteristics, such as, for example, the ability to behave. She became an elite auror, a pupil of Alastor Moody, demonstrating much of his personality, not only brave, but hardworking, since becoming part of the aurors is not easy.

Later he became a member of the second formation of Order of the Phoenix, part of the advance guard responsible for escorting Harry from his home at No. 4 Privet Drive to No. 12 Grimmauld Place, which demonstrated much of his loyalty. In addition, another very striking trait of the members of her house and that she herself has is the issue of tolerance, since she fell in love with Remus Lupine, the former Defense Against the Dark Arts professor who left the school over the exposure of his lycanthropy. She subsequently ends up marrying him.

Newt Scarmander, the main character of Fantastic Beasts, is one of the illustrious Hufflepuffs of the Harry Potter universe

Newt Scamander, protagonist of the franchise Animais Fantásticos e Onde Habitam also came from Hufflepuff and due to his mingling with magical creatures he was expelled from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, not completing his studies and still becoming the greatest magizoologist of the world, author of the textbook of magizoology used at Hogwarts in modern times.

Although the story of this character is still being developed in the movies, it is already possible to see much of his personality, not only tolerant, since his best friend is a muggle, but also his traits of justice, kindness and protection. He is also very faithful to Albus Dumbledore and what he believes in, fighting alongside one of the greatest wizards of all time against the witch supremacist idea of Gellert Grindelwald.

"The beautiful Ravenclaw of the ravines"

Ravenclaw was the house that stood out for its intelligence. Image: Harry Potter Wiki

Rowena Ravenclaw was born at the beginning of the XNUMXth century, lived and grew up in the ravines of the valleys of Scotland, in Great Britain and from a very young age was considered a beautiful witch of appearance, with her very black hair and very white skin. Despite this, her appearance is also described as quite intimidating, probably due to her posture and quest for knowledge, since rowena she was also considered someone who had an unconditional love of learning. her last name, Ravenclaw, makes an analogy both with “crow's claw” and also with “black claw”, and it is not known for sure which of the two is the most correct to consider.

Even so, in the free translation into Portuguese, the surname was adopted as “Ravenclaw”, making an analogy to “Raven”, part of the surname in English which, alone, means crow.

An interesting point about the witch is that although she lived in a time where witch hunts were frequent and therefore needed to learn magic in a hidden and careful way not to be caught, rowena is considered one of the smartest witches of her time, in addition to being an extremely creative witch, showing that adversity was no match for her above average intelligence. Over the years, she met three other extremely talented wizards who she became very close friends with, among them, Helga Hufflepuff, considered Rowena's best friend, and together they decided to build the best school of witchcraft and wizardry in the world, so that future generations could study safely.

We will teach those of undeniable intelligence.

Rowena Ravenclaw

Rowena Ravenclaw she was responsible for designing part of the castle's plan, which was constantly changing, together with the witch architect, and was also responsible for creating and implementing the stairs that move. Furthermore, according to legends, it was thanks to a dream that she had to rowena chose the location of the school, naming it Hogwarts due to the dream in which a warty pig led her to a cliff on the edge of a lake. Hogwarts, therefore, is a name given in honor of this pig.

Each of the founders wanted students to be admitted to the school based on characteristics they valued, and for that reason they decided to create four houses and each of them would teach one, within the characteristics most valued by them. rowena she did the same, adopting traits she prized as well as her own. This house was named after his last name, Ravenclaw.

"OR WILL IT BE OLD AND WISE CORVINAL,

THE HOUSE OF THOSE WHO ARE ALWAYS ALERT,

WHERE MEN OF GREAT SPIRIT AND KNOW

THEY WILL ALWAYS FIND COMPANIONS THEIR LIKE.”

SELECTOR HAT
Students at this Hogwarts house can expect a real library in their common room.

Located in one of the three tallest towers in Hogwarts, wide and circular, considered the most airy common room in Hogwarts. And because he wanted his students to always seek to improve their knowledge, to enter the communal hall it is necessary to climb the stairs of the tower until you find a knocker that will launch a riddle that must be answered correctly. Ravenclaw it has the eagle as a mascot, with the ideology that eagles can take the highest flights and reach where no one else can.

Its mascot, with the colors blue and bronze, make up the coat of arms and the official colors of the house, present not only in the coat of arms but also in parts of the uniforms of Corvo students. Their corresponding element is air, and they also have a rare object belonging to the founder, Rowena Ravenclaw: Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem, created by the same and which, according to legends, increases the mental capacity of those who use it. In the object there is a phrase engraved with the words: “the limitless spirit is the greatest treasure of man”. Later, the diadem became one of the Horcruxes created by Tom riddle and destroyed by Harry Potter in the Room of Requirement, with the help of damnfire.

It was to be expected that being one of the smartest witches of her time, rowena also sought in his students characteristics such as intelligence, wit, open-mindedness, creativity and a thirst for knowledge. And indeed, the students of Ravenclaw are considered the smartest wizards in Hogwarts, who have such a taste for knowledge that it is common for them to gather at the entrance to their common room to together seek to find the answer to the riddle thrown by the knocker.

Another characteristic belonging to the members of the house that is not always very noticed is that they seem to have drawn from the beauty of their founder, since the Ravenclaw it can also be described as home to the most beautiful students at Hogwarts. In addition, as they are a house that values an open mind, their search for wisdom is not limited to what is already recognized as a fact, opening up room for broadening the mind and seeking what is not yet known, making Ravenclaws people tolerant of the beliefs of others.

Luna Lovegood has become a fan favorite character. Image: WB/Playback

One of Ravenclaw's most famous and beloved characters is Moon lovegood, nicknamed behind the back (including by Hermione Granger) of DiLua Lovegood, due to beliefs and more playful personality. she is best friend of Ginny Weasley, later becoming great friends with Harry Potter and other members of Dumbledore's Army. What can be noticed through many discussions of those who like to Harry Potter is that many believe that Moon, in fact, is from Hufflepuff due to their more passive characteristics and their tolerance for people.

However, Moon proves to be a real Ravenclaw through his non-conformist personality and his open mind to any and all beliefs. It is this side of you that draws attention to Harry at different times, including being one of the only people who, even without being close to Harry Potter, believed him about the return of Flight of death. She is also extremely intelligent and talented, proving this by managing to conjure a corporeal Patronus in her fourth year, during the teachings passed down by Harry Potter, the Dumbledore's Army. Another detail is that just as rowena, who had an intimidating manner, Moon he often made people uncomfortable due to his bluntness.

Cho chang was also a student of Ravenclaw which was related to Harry during a period of Order of the Phoenix, having joined Dumbledore's Army in order to learn more about how to fight those responsible for killing your former partner, Cedric Diggory. Although his personal history and trajectory is not as explored in books or films, what is known about Cho is that she was catcher of the team of Ravenclaw, popular and beautiful. Possessing the characteristics valued by rowena and remaining faithful to the AD even after one of her friends betrayed the group and consequently she ended her relationship with Harry Potter.

Another witch who also went through the Ravenclaw and perhaps not the stereotypical member of that house is the former Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, Gilderoy Lockhart. Yes, the professor who did not perform any feat of those written in his books, but who took the merits for everything he did, finally demonstrating that he was actually a coward who did not have enough knowledge in the area he taught.

The interesting thing about this character's story is that although he is a true charlatan, his true intelligence and creativity was applied in another way: Lockhart he was an expert user of the memory spell, being able not only to erase memory but also to alter it. That's how he brought his stories to life. Which, in a different way, places him as a Ravenclaw which has characteristics of the house.

One of Harry's romantic partners in the saga was Cho Chang, who belonged to Rowena's house.

Among these and several other characters who also went through Ravenclaw, honorable mention goes to the divination teacher, Sybil Trelawney (sybill, in the English translation), the spell teacher and also head of the house, Filius flitwick (Son, in the Portuguese translation) and the wandologist Garrick Ollivander, characters that demonstrate very well what it is to be a raven.

"The cunning Slytherin of the marshes"

Alongside Gryffindor, Slytherin is one of the most popular houses at Hogwarts. Image: Harry Potter Wiki

salazar slytherin was born at the beginning of the XNUMXth century, into a thoroughbred family, and grew up in a more marshy region, in the marshes of Fen, coastal plain of the east of England. As he lives in a more humid and swampy region, his contact with the most diverse types of reptiles was common, especially snakes, which Salazar had more affinity, since his family had inherited the gift of communicating with snakes, being then called parselmouths.

Being considered one of the most talented wizards of his time, Salazar he was cunning, cold and ambitious, and in addition to having the ability to talk to snakes, he also possessed an extremely rare ability called Legilimency, which allowed him to enter people's minds not only to read their thoughts, but also to see their memories and even change them according to what he wanted. In addition, as a witch with a thirst for power, he sought to learn not only common magic, but also dark magic, becoming an expert in this area. Slytherin he was also in favor of pure-blood supremacy, having as a great justification the fact that muggles were witch hunters.

We will teach only those of the purest ancestry.

salazar slytherin

Together with his three great friends, they decided to build the best school of magic and witchcraft in the world, so that the new generation of witches could learn magic safely, unlike what was done in their youth, where they needed to go after witches willing to teach. magic hidden from the Muggles who hunted them.

As a wizard who adheres to the culture of blood purity, even at a time when most people still did not have this stigma as a mantra, Slytherin didn't want wizards of Muggle descent to study at Hogwarts, something that was strongly countered by his best friend, Godric Gryffindor and the other two founders.

Due to this difference of opinion about who they should admit to the school, and considering that three of the four founders were fond of opening the doors to young wizards with certain characteristics, it was decided that each of them would have a house within the castle, which would select only those students who possessed the traits they most prized. It was then that the house of Salazar was founded as Slytherin.

“OR PERHAPS SLYERIN WILL BE YOUR HOME,

AND THERE YOU WILL MAKE TRUE FRIENDS

If this is your chosen Hogwarts Legacy house, enjoy views of the Great Lake from the Common Room windows

Located in the dungeons of the castle, more precisely below the ground floor, the common room of the Slytherin is considered the most luxurious of Hogwarts, being possible to see the bottom of the black lake through its windows. THE Slytherin has a snake as a mascot, which above all characterizes very well the personalities of its founder and his ability to communicate with snakes. The mascot along with the official house colors, green and silver, make up not only the house coat of arms but also the uniforms of Slytherin students.

Its corresponding element is water and it has a rare object, belonging to the founder, salazar slytherin: Salazar Slytherin's Locket, which passed from generation to generation until it ended up in the hands of a descendant of Helga Hufflepuff, Hepzibah Smith, being taken by Tom riddle, descendant and heir of Salazar. Tom riddle later turned it into a horcruxes that was destroyed by Ron Weasley with Sword of Gryffindor. In addition to the medallion, Salazar also left behind a Chamber of Secrets for his heir, who would one day frequent Hogwarts, opened it and released the basilisk in an attempt to purge the school of muggle-borns and half-bloods. that heir was Tom riddle.

But beyond the intention of having members in your household who were pure-blooded, salazar slytherin he also valued other characteristics that he looked for in his students, such as ambition, thirst for power, cunning, coldness and pride. Students selected for the Slytherin they have a tendency towards self-preservation and highly developed senses, which make them hesitate and think several times before acting. and by Salazar also highly value ambition and intelligence, Slytherins they often become calculating in countless situations, so that in this way they are able to achieve what they seek.

Members of this house are also often considered evil due to the strong roots that emerged with the creation of Slytherin and the supremacist thoughts of Salazar, and although it is the home of Hogwarts that produced the most dark wizards, this does not mean that it is a rule, as well as not all those selected for the Slytherin have purebreds.

Despite this, it is consensual that although the main characteristics remain, many do not have the same values as their colleagues or the founder himself. Another characteristic of the members of this house is that they are people capable of feeling emotions intensely, having some evidence of this in the course of books and films, but unfortunately most are inclined to fail in relation to these feelings.

If there's a character that comes to mind just by mentioning the name Slytherin, this character is called Draco Malfoy, even if its history is full of controversies. Perhaps he is the greatest example of how creation can shape the personality, since the malfoy were part of the inner circle of Lord Voldemort. So, Draco grew up with the supremacist belief employed by parents, friends and relatives, who were mostly Death Eaters.

Draco Malfoy Harry Potter
Draco Malfoy was one of the most iconic characters in movies. Image: WB/Playback

His personality traits and aptitudes followed the Slytherin stereotype itself, considering that the boy was ambitious, proud, self-preserving, in addition to having a talent for potions, just like the founder himself had. Draco he also proved to be a very powerful wizard throughout history, responsible for repairing the sink cupboard so that Death Eaters could enter the castle.

Among the character's moments of redemption, there are some cruel events that put him in a situation of choice: after being forced to become a Death Eater and tasked with the mission of murdering Albus Dumbledore, Draco hesitated at the last moment after having a conversation with Dumbledore, lowering his wand and failing to kill him. He also did not reveal the identity of Harry Potter when he, Ron e Hermione were captured and taken to his mansion.

Severus Snape (Severe, in Portuguese) was one of the characters with the most indecipherable personality until the end of the film and book saga, and we came to understand the truth about the character only at the end. Still, it is possible to notice several features slytherins him, considering even that he became director of the house of Slytherin during his time teaching at the castle.

He was also excellent at potions. However, we see how much of his personality traits came to shape as he grew up, suffering bullying at the school of the man who had become the husband of the great love of his life, Lily potter (Lilian, in Portuguese). Your side slytherin which was once again demonstrated when, moved by anger after yet another of the pranks played by the Marauders, he called Lily of "Mudblood", since she was a Muggle-born. At the end of the story we find out, however, that Snape knew how to use his characteristics to act as a double agent, protect Harry Potter and then help in the fight against Lord Voldemort.

Horace Slughorn, potions teacher in Half-Blood Prince, was also part of Slytherin and, like most of its members, possessed many of the characteristics prized by Salazar. However, his most striking features valued intelligence and ambition, considering that he liked to keep young wizards with above-average talents close to him, inviting them to be part of "Slugh's club".

Among these young witches, contrary to the supremacist culture of so many Slytherins, slughorn he also invited those who did not come from pure lineage, such as Harry Potter, half-blood, Hermione Granger, Muggle-born and Harry's own mother, lily evans (maiden name), who was a Muggle-born. He also invited to his club a young man who would eventually become the greatest dark wizard who ever lived: Tom riddle. Also being responsible for telling the young wizard about the horcruxes. Horatio also fought in Battle of Hogwarts next to Order of the Phoenix e Dumbledore's Army.
